The class project bike took second in the Sportster class, and Cory Schulte's bike took second in the Shovelhead class. Both bikes were also entered into the local Moses Bike Show in Mitchell. This gigantic utility pole is now part of the MTI landscape. The 66-foot laminate pole was raised by students and faculty members in the Electrical Utilities and Substation Technology program and the Power Line Construction and Maintenance program. Three more poles just like it will be erected in the vicinity of MTI’s substation training lab to simulate equipment that graduates will encounter in the field. http://ow.ly/4mJr44

Congratulations to Paula Schmidt who was named Instructor of the Year by the MTI Student Rep Board. For the first time ever, an online instructor was selected for this honor. In her nomination, Paula was recognized for her willingness to go above and beyond with her students and her availability no matter the day of the week or time of day. Well done, Paula! http://ow.ly/4nfjbD

MTI Architectural Design and Building Construction students are currently constructing a two-level, 18'x36' commercial building with steel framing and studs, precast concrete panels and store front doors and windows. This building has been designed so it can be constructed and deconstructed each year. One of the notable aspects of this project is that industry asked that this type of commercial construction curriculum be added to the program and industry is funding it. Donations have been received for every aspect of this project, with assurances of continued future support. http://ow.ly/4n7Mbs
