There is hardly a landscape photographer out there, myself included, who isn't totally addicted to primarily using a wide angle lens for all their landscape photography. There's one good reason. You walk miles to get a great shot, you see this awesome scene presenting itself to you and you https://mitchellkrog.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Sunrise-Over-Misty-Lake-Rietvlei-Landscapes-Photos-Mitchell-Krog-700x466.jpg #photography #fineart -Visit me at https://mitchellkrog.com

Widen Your View with LG Wide Angle Photography

I'm certainly no stranger to wide angle photography. My wide angle lens is undoubtedly the most prized and essential of all my camera possessions. You can then possibly imagine my surprise when I was asked to review the new LG X Cam https://mitchellkrog.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Landscape-Seascape-Sunset-Kogel-Bay-Wide-Angle-ZAX2849-Mitchell-Krog-300x200.jpg #photography #wildlife #wildlifephotography ---- Order prints from http://mitchellkrog.photoshelter.com/archive

One of our highly endangered Wild Dog's of Africa caught at sunset on our way out of the Kruger National Park. This was just too good to miss and myself and several other cars were all late getting to the gate but it as so worth it. Photos of the Solar Eclipse from South Africa - September 2016
Photographing a solar eclipse is a lot like welding because if you don't have the correct filter in front of your camera lens you will damage your eyes and also your camera. I photographed my first solar eclipse from South Africa in https://mitchellkrog.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/solar-partial-eclipse-south-africa-2016-mitchell-krog-700x329.jpg #photography #fineart -Visit me at https://mitchellkrog.com

LG X cam is a Game Changer

The world of Smart phone technology is undoubtedly one of the fastest moving sectors in the world. The phone you buy today is often obsolete before you even unbox it. This leaves most of us with the constant Fear of More Options (FOMO) syndrome, too scared to buy a https://mitchellkrog.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/lg-x-cam-photo-competition-wide-angle-700x637.jpg #photography #wildlife #wildlifephotography ---- Order prints from http://mitchellkrog.photoshelter.com/archive

I love Fail2Ban, it's always been my knight in shining armor and just yesterday I installed 0.91 on a new Ubuntu 16.04 server with Nginx, working great so far after a few hiccups adapting to some syntax changes. But you guys are doing great work on what is undoubtedly the greatest security module for Linux.

I am however struggling to understand something with the new version. I see it is using a sqlite database system to store it's data.

So after my thorough testing of my jails using one of my own IP addresses which is purely for testing purposes, I stopped fail2ban, manually cleared the fail2ban.log file but after I started up Fail2Ban again it had re-created all the data in fail2ban.log that I had just deleted ..... so I assume it's pulling this from the SQLite database now.

So my question is what is the correct command line to flush the database, start fresh and also clear the log file completely ?

It's useful to know this so one can do a complete reset after testing is completed.

Ah thanks Yaroslav, I hate messing with things without first being 100% sure and I wasn't sure if the sqlite file contained anything mission critical.

I have now a simple set of commands to flush Fail2Ban

sudo service fail2ban stop
sudo truncate -s 0 /var/log/fail2ban.log
sudo rm /var/lib/fail2ban/fail2ban.sqlite3
sudo service fail2ban restart
