Hello peeps, just wondering if anyone can give an insight into the backup strategy they would be using when it comes to backup. Im not talking specifically for Wordpress, via a plugin. But more so at a VPS level, i'm looking for a good backup script or solution that can run via a cron job at night and backup all mySQL Db's it finds on the servers to .sql files preferably compressed to .gz which i then can remote ftp to another offsite server or cloud service ?

Any ideas on what is out there would be much appreciated.

Mitch Menghi commented on a post on Blogger.
Whilst they have taken a step forward in design and some fantastic options like click and drag really do make things easier and one step forward to a normal desktop environment most people would be used to, what were they thinking about removing the STARRED column ?

Let me explain how this has affected me and i'm sure that it would be the same for others.

I used to use starred items as a tag to remember what i needed to be done on specific folders or files.

For example... picture this.

I structure my directories like this.

CLIENT 1
--> 2014
->01_2014 - Jan SEO
->02_2014 - Feb SEO
CLIENT 2
-->2014
->01_2014 - Jan SEO
->02_2014 - Feb SEO

etc
etc

Ok i like structure this saves me from using the search menu and it makes my workflow easier to manage.

So what i used to do is inside say CLIENT 1 i would star the folder called _01_2014 - Jan SEO.
In Client 2 if i was ahead of schedule and completed 01_2014 - Jan SEO, i would star 02_2014 - Feb SEO

This instantly tell me AT A GLANCE that i need to work on CLIENT 1 as its priority and need to catch up.

But now i cannot do this, why... because they have removed the Star Column and there is no way to get it back, you can still star but you cannot physically see the star any longer.... This is a major drawback as im sure there would be people using it for other purposes not just what i used it for, see the beauty of the Star is the fact you can use it for your own purpose.

Then i thought to myself, hang on there is a STARRED left filter folder, so you would think i could click on that right ? Well when you do guess what comes up.

A whole long list of your starred items. But guess what it makes no sense, because in my above example if i have 01_2014 - Jan SEO, 02_2014 - Feb SEO starred.... all i see is the following.

01_2014 - Jan SEO
02_2014 - Feb SEO

There is no hierarchy. There is no way to differentiate what subfolder belong to what parent folder ? This is an absolute flaw in thinking and usability. Infact its unusable and forced me to go back to the Old Drive. :(

Does anyone else feel my sentiments also, or am i the only one, also can anyone else recommend a way to use stars effectively in the new drive with my above example ?

Regards, and this is a great website :)
