I listened to your Ted Talk and learned so much about how the plastic waste is dispersed. It's not at all a huge island of trash like some have led us to believe. It is widely dispersed and sounds like it is about 26 pieces per cubic meter of water. What is most disheartening is that in the Northern Gyre about the size of the United States in the Northern Pacific, it is about 20 times greater concentration than it was in the late 1970's and early 1980's. We recycle almost all plastics here in Minneapolis area. We know how to deal with a lot of this. It sounds like the vast majority of people on earth do not recycle. I hope you start to post again on Google Plus. I believe many scientists and citizen scientists would engage with you.
