The bad news: poor little gooseneck barnacles are ingesting plastic in the North Pacific Gyre. The good news: you can read all about it our paper, out today in PeerJ! #DeepSN

A "Jenny Haniver" is a ray or skate that's cut, shaped, & dried into a fantastical monster. http://awe.sm/j6gLG  #DeepSN via @metafilter
I used to have one of these when I was a kid. I got it as a souvenir in Tijuana, a "devil from the deep" or some such thing. It seemed to be a fish of some kind, but wtf? Like a little man-fish alien ...

I haven't been active on G+ recently, but I'm afraid it's about to go to zero. This is my farewell post to social media for the year. My wonderful blogmates also wrote extraordinarily nice things on the main Deep Sea News page.

This is the full version from https://plus.google.com/111003376540003743015/posts/5jz8ZQCE84N , with 5 minutes of food preparation prepended.  I'd like to know whether it was a GPO or a cyanea (I added this question as comments to both youtube videos).
