Chrome custom tabs: smoothing the transition between apps and the web

Android app developers face a difficult tradeoff when it comes to showing web content in their Android app. Opening links in the browser is familiar for users and easy to implement, but results in a heavy-weight transition between the app and the web.

You can get more granular control by building a custom browsing experience on top of Android’s WebView, but at the cost of more technical complexity and an unfamiliar browsing experience for users. A new feature in the most recent version of Chrome called custom tabs addresses this tradeoff by allowing an app to customize how Chrome looks and feels, making the transition from app to web content fast and seamless. Surfing "to" USA
We are making our way back to USA, and the wind is just about perfect. Downwind all the way. We left Dominica to a steady 20 knot breeze for a 240 mile journey to St. Croix (USVI) where I was hoping to make a phone call and take care of a few things back ho...

Definitely worth supporting getting this ridiculous charges dropped for Paul.

Call of Action from Sea Shepherd Founder Captain Paul Watson!
"I need your signature.
Hi everyone, I can use your help with this petition to get the Costa Rican government to drop their bogus charges against me. They are trying to extradite me for stopping a shark finning operation in 2002 in Guatemalan waters. This was done at the request of the government of Guatemala. No one was hurt. Nothing was damaged. Sharks were saved. Costa Rica has a problem with that. The same courts that let the murderers of Jairo Mora Sandoval go free because the police and prosecutors conveniently lost the evidence now want to put me in prison for 15 years for saving sharks. We need to keep the pressure on Costa Rica to enable us to return to defend marine reserves, turtles, sharks, whales, dolphins and fish."

We’ve sailed 2000 miles so far!
- and can someone turn down this wind already?!? We have so far sailed 2048 miles according to our chart-plotter trip log - which I think deserves a little celebration. The other day we commented on how differently we sail this boat now, and how much we hav...

Nice Caribbean music compilation. For those days when you miss some of the pristine water and the island atmosphere.

Dominica
Dominica is truly hikers paradise. I'm talking about the English speaking Dominica - don’t mistake it for the Spanish Dominican Republic - very different countries. The guide book calls it that Dominica is as close to the Garden of Eden as anyplace on earth...

Grenada
Aaahhh, Grenada.  They call it “The Spice Island” as Grenada grows and exports many spices. I don't think I have seen more luscious country than Grenada. Everywhere you look there is a fruit tree or a spice tree growing.  The volcanic soil is perfect to gro...
