Over the years, a number of my female friends have confided in me something very personal: they have been victims of sexual assault. So, when I read study after study showing that a majority of women will experience rape at some point in their lives, I believe those studies. The data and what I've learned from my female friendships make me even more of an advocate for women in all fields but especially in tech. If you're a man reading this, then there's a woman you care about who has been raped. I guarantee it. So, the next time you feel the need to make some inapporiate remark or share a lewd joke in front of a female coworker, keep in mind that she has probably been through something that would break you. Therefore, change your humor, and, most importantly, change your behavior.

You can't do what no one has ever done by doing what everyone else does.

Some see people in the ghetto as simply welfare queens and gangbangers who are "takers". One reason I wrote "Minority Tech" was to show them as I see them: an untapped pipeline of innovation and entrepreneurship. #MinorityTech http://www.MinorityTech.com
