Hello MUM members
Winter has set in with a vengeance! Time to get together and warm the season with friendship and fun. This year Todd B. has graciously offered to host the MUM holiday party. The party will be on Saturday, December 22nd from 2:00 to 6:00. You can view the formal invitation at “http://www.minnesotaunitedminis.com/documents/2013HOLIDAYPARTY.pdf”. Please make sure and RSVP to the party if you will be planning on attending. The information is in the invitation.
Have a safe and happy holiday season, and look forward to some great motoring in 2014.
Jim Rivord.

Hello MUM Members,

The end of summer has come, and they are predicting snow for tomorrow. Remember that daylight savings comes to an end on November 3rd. You get an extra hour of sleep, but you go home from work in the dark.

I received the following message from Derek Doescher of German Auto Works that I wanted to pass along.

German Auto Works is a European repair shop that has been around since 1971 in St. Louis Park. Recently, we have hired on a MINI Cooper certified technician and we are working on spreading the word to all the MINI enthusiast around our area. We would like to offer a coupon of 50 dollars off a 100 dollar or more MINI service to first time customers. When you set up an appointment, just have them tell Nick that they are first time customers and are with M.U.M. They can schedule an appointment by emailing us at service@germanautoworks.com or calling (952)922-2222. We also have a new Facebook page for our MINI customers. You can find us at German Auto Works MINI. Please let us know how we can help keep your group motoring down the road. -- German Auto Works MINI

That was all I really have for you right now. Thanks for your time.

I am looking to add an event in September. A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to beg a chance to follow along the back roads of WI trip that the Evo and Subaru clubs have been doing for a while. Some awesome roads and even when driving it yesterday (to make sure I could actually follow the directions) on such an awesome day, I only saw a handful of cars on the side roads (seriously, I think I counted 4).
The trip is going to be pretty much an all day event, so let me know if anyone is interested. I just need to check the calender to determine what weekend is best.

Test run of the WI back road trip Saturday. There may be a few stops to take notes on the drive, and this isn't going to be a very "spirited" drive, but it should be fun! Meeting at the Holiday station just outside of Hastings, MN. Off the 61, just south of Point Douglas Drive. 12370 W Point Douglas Rd, Hastings MN. Meeting there at 9:00am, leaving by 9:15am. We will stop at Stockholm for food and prep for the back roads of WI. Let me know if you plan on joining us. Bring a radio if you have one, and maybe an extra. RSVP

Hello MUM Members

Congratulations again to everyone that made it to Minis on the Mac. It was a really good try.

I wanted to remind everyone that this Saturday is the Highway 60 Run. The weather looks like is going to be excellent for the run. The run will start from Motorwerks at 7:30am. If you have any questions make sure and check out the web site at “http://www.minnesotaunitedminis.com/events/view.aspx?Eventid=134”.

The next event after that will be the Wheels & Wings car show on September 7th. Keep an eye on the website for additional details as the event gets closer.

There will be another Wisconsin run on September 14th if you miss the one this Saturday. That one will start at 9:00 am.

October 10th will be the Fall Foliage Foray into the Far Far Forest. This event is an excellent deal and is a load of fun.

Remember to add photos to the Facebook or Google+ pages for the events. Share the fun and excitement!

That’s about it for this message. Motor On!

Hello MUM Members

Summer has finally decided to make it to Minnesota. We have had the New London to New Brighton on June 1. We have had the Heritage Day Parade on June 15. Both of the events went off very well. The next scheduled event is going to be the Highway 60 run.

This event was scheduled for August 3 to coincide with the Cars & Coffee British event at the AutoMotorWorks. We are going to move the Highway 60 run to the following weekend.

An event of biblical proportions is happening that weekend. It is called Minis on the Mac. You can find details on their Facebook page (“https://www.facebook.com/events/521093454613906/”). Basically they want to break the Guinness world record for the largest parade of Mini’s, and they want to do it over the bridge! The plan is to leave on Friday, August 2 for a nine hour drive to St. Ignace overland. Attend the event on Saturday. On Sunday, drive back via the ferry that crosses Lake Michigan (thirteen hours). This is being coordinated by Rob Mahaney. If you are interested in going, please send him a mail message to get the details.

Because of the Highway 60 run not being tied to the event at AutoMotorWorks, the start point will be moved. There will be details before the event as to where and when the event will start.

There is nothing specific planned until these two events, so get out and enjoy the Minnesota summer before it starts snowing again.

Hello MUM Members

The New London to New Brighton is this weekend! If you have not signed up, you should do it now at “http://www.minnesotaunitedminis.com/events/view.aspx?Eventid=129”. It is always a great time. It is even supposed to stop raining by then! I will believe it when I see it.

The next event that is coming up after that is the Heritage Day Parade in Fairbault. MUM has been part of this parade since 2008. It is not difficult and the kids love seeing the Mini’s. I never fail to have a smile on my face. Please see the details on the web site at “http://www.minnesotaunitedminis.com/events/view.aspx?Eventid=133”.

One other thing that I should mention is that the last notice that I sent out had some of the messages “stuck” in my outgoing queue for some reason. I will make sure and keep an eye on it this time.

Happy motoring

Hello all you MUM members out there!

Groundhogs day has come and gone, and the days are getting longer and summer is coming. The next event will be the sweethearts Valentine’s brunch on Saturday, February 16th. If you and your sweetheart are coming, make sure to let Todd know if you have not already. Check out the event on the web site (“http://www.minnesotaunitedminis.com/events/view.aspx?eventid=127”) for all the details.

One other thing to remember is your annual optional dues will be coming due in April. I will be sending out more on this later, but you want to make sure and budget that $10. We don’t want to be responsible for someone having to live in their Mini because they lost their house to the bank. Our Mini’s are comfortable and all, but taking a shower in there can ruin the electronics.

I don’t have anything more exciting or witty to say, so I will see you at Coopers and keep thinking warm thoughts.

Hello MUM members

I would like to let you in on some totally exciting news! It has been decided that the Mini Meet East Meets West 2014 will be hosted by the Milwaukee Minis, Minis in Northern Illinois & the Chicago Mini Motoring Club. The event will be held in Milwaukee, WI on July 2-6 in 2014. As you are all aware, MUM hosted the event in 2009. We had over 300 people that attended our event in Winona. I would expect just as many to attend the event in 2014. They have the web site of “http://minimeet2014.com” up and running with more information.

Hello fellow MUM members. This is your membership chair here with a little note and a happy new year. The chapter board is working to get the events lined up for the year.

There are a few events coming up soon that you should keep an eye out for. The first will be the Sweetheart Brunch that is tentatively planned for Saturday, February 16th at Coopers Pub. There will be details coming soon. The second event will be a BMW/MINI/Mini open house at Orr Autosport sometime in the middle of March. There will also be the Minneapolis Auto Show March 9-17 that some will attend.

Looking forward to the coming year, we are planning on having the annual events: New London to New Brighton, Heritage Day Parade, Wheels & Wings, and the Fall Foliage Foray into the Far Forest. If there is an event that you would really like to see, or want to champion, please let any of the board members know and we will try to make it happen.

Looking forward to a fun 2013.

Jim R.
