Pest reporting and pest surveillance

Pest reporting is frequently the product of pest surveillance which is one of the responsibilities of a NPPO of an IPPC CP. In particular, pest surveillance should cover:

growing plants, including both areas under cultivation (inter alia fields, plantations, nurseries, gardens, greenhouses and laboratories) and wild flora
plants and plant products in storage or in transportation
with the object of reporting the occurrence, outbreak and spread of pests, and of controlling those pests. The IPPC IRSS has spent considerable efforts in recent years addressing national surveillance needs, the relevant IPPC standards and implementations challenges.
