This is such important information if you are a pet owner.

Recently I read a horrible story in our neighborhood newsletter about a neighbor's dog becoming gravely ill after playing and chewing on a sego palm seed he found along their daily walk. I had no idea these plants are so treacherous to animals (and children). Every third house in Central Florida has a Sego Palm as part of their landscaping. PLEASE be careful if you are walking your dog in an area where they are growing. DO NOT let them pick up the seed pods in their mouths. It can kill your dog. If you have one of these as a house plant or out on a deck and you have a cat or other animal that likes to chew on plants - GET RID OF IT or risk losing your pet. If you have one of these plants in your yard and you see that it had dropped seeds - pick them up and dispose of them where no animal (or child) can reach them. We used to have two of these in our front yard right on the corner. They dropped seeds all the time. I had no idea they were so toxic. Thankfully we got rid of them when we changed our landscaping otherwise I would be getting rid of them now. Please be aware and let your friends and family members who have animals know how dangerous this plant is to the health of their pets.

Sago Palms are poisonous to dogs and cats. While the whole tree is poisonous, the seeds (nuts) are the most toxic. If your pet is exposed call your vet immediately.

Story
Tagline
I can paint a portrait of your treasured pet.
Introduction
I am a self employed artist who specializes in painting pet portraits. I work in acrylic because I am committed to living my life and consequently doing my artwork in as ecologically a friendly manner as is possible so I use non-toxic materials and no-animal derived brushes. I am blessed that what was once my hobby and a passion I had for painting cats, dogs and all manner of animals has now become my vocation.

I live in Florida with my husband Marty and our three cats Mackie, Shadow and Nilo. In addition to painting my other passion is food. I spend many hours in the kitchen cooking, baking, preserving, pickling, and anything else food related. Marty and I also love trying new restaurants and I am a food blogger and frequent Yelper.
Bragging rights
I once kayaked across Florida bay in a boat that had no rudder and kept up with the "big boys".
