Nice rooms, but horrible customer service if something does go slightly not according to plan for them, even for military. I left my phone charger in the room the morning I checked out, but I came back midday the day I was leaving 20 minutes before I told them I had to catch a flight out. Instead of calling or radioing lost and found to come down with the charger, they simply texted them two times over the course of 20 minutes while I waited. Because I had to catch a plane, I even VOLUNTEERED to go upstairs and check the room myself, which I had to do. It wasn't there, I let them know I could only wait 5 more minutes and instead of trying to go get it, they simply texted housekeeping again - which, shocker - never responded. They said they could mail it, which I said was great. (they never said I'd be charged!) It took 2 days of back and forth phone tag w/ housekeeping and the front desk to actually determine that yes, they had found it. I then received a message last night saying they had charged my credit card to mail it to me!? Wait, what!? I never approved any charge before they did that and I had waited 20 minutes (plenty of time) to get something from lost and found and they're going to charge me to ship it. Totally unacceptable, it was there fault for not getting it to me in person when I was still there w/ plenty of time. But wait - it's gets better! The only way they finally agreed to ship it without charging me was to ship it regular mail instead of priority. Incredible - I pay $390 for 3 nights and they want to nickel and dime me for another $10-15 instead of taking personal responsibility for their apathy, poor communication and laziness in customer service. Lastly, when I finished the call w/ their manager 15 minutes ago, I respectfully said, 'thanks for at least shipping it' and she didn't even respond you're welcome or anything, she simply hung up on me. Wow, love that professionalism. Never staying there again and will continue to encourage any military not to as well.

+ great location when in Chicago, + nice rooms, - incompetent staff (!) with only two exceptions, - noisy from Thu-Sun night!, - super slow internet connection! We just spent a week at the MileNorth and our experience went from a great first impression to a huge disappointment! To keep things short here are the pro’s and con’s for the MileNorth: + Location: You are just around the corner of Mag Mile with its plenty shops and restaurants. The lakeshore and sights like The Loop, Millenium Park, Shedd Aquarium, Art Institute, Navy Pier are still in walking distance. Hip neighborhoods such as Bucktown/Wicker Park and Lincoln Park with trendy eateries and shops are just a couple of metro stations away or easy to reach by bike. + /-Amenities: Rooms: The spacious rooms come with a coffee maker (Lavazza coffee) and a fridge with plenty of room for your own stuff. The bathrooms have a good size and same applies to the closet. What bothered me was that although they have wine and beer in the mini bar there are no extra glasses provided. And using the toothbrush tumblers or coffee mugs is kind of “unappetizing”. - Internet connection: No hotel should advertise high speed Internet, when the broadband speed is slower as snail mail. If you have to work from your hotel room and email attachments or be available over Skype choose another place to stay. Otherwise you end like me running to “Corner Bakery Café” every morning to be able to send out emails with attachments over 100KB or Skype without interruptions! + Gym: The fitness center comes with treadmills and other cardio equipment and is a good alternative if it is too hot or cold to explore the lakeshore by running. +/- Rooftop bar: The deck is settled in the lower skyline of Chicago and since it is not as big as common rooftop bars it is really cozy and inviting. Due to the unsettled weather we couldn’t enjoy it as much as we wanted and had to move to the bar inside. This one is very narrow and if it is packed you barely can start a conversation with your companions. +/- Service: Front desk: There is a big difference between the “older” and “younger” staff at the front desk! While the older staff is very friendly and experienced their younger colleagues lack those skills and come up with rash promises. E.g.: 1. Our assigned room wasn’t ready after we gave them 3 hours for preparation on the day of our check-in (afternoon). One younger staff member changed our room (downgrade) without notice and gave us looks when we friendly insisted in our previous room assignment. 2. Requests that couldn’t be solved at the front desk were never followed-up by them, which can be really nerve-racking! 3. What really upset me was that the day before our departure we arranged a pick-up for early next morning with the front desk and bellmen just to find out the next day that no reservations were made! Thanks to the manager that was in charge next morning we were able to get to the airport with only a little delay! + Housekeeping: Except the delay during check-in we had no complaints about housekeeping the first 3 days. When the maid changed on day 4 we didn’t receive all necessary bath amenities, but complaining about this would be like looking for a needle in the haystack. CONCLUSION The rooms are spacious and contemporary but the predominant incompetent staff and the super slow Internet connection should let you think twice to book a room at the MileNorth if you want to stay here during a business trip. Moreover the guests change over the week and towards the weekend they are getting louder and some cannot behave and are lacking manners. In short, it can get very noisy during night when they return from clubbing or whatever. Overall the location and rooms are nice but I am undecided whether the MileNorth can keep up with the popular 4-star hotel brands like Intercontinental, Marriott, Hyatt, etc. since they really have to catch up in service.

The rooms were good and for a good price, but they charged me for service hotel 35dlls and nobody tells you that until you get your receipt days after you leave.

I made a reservation at this place a month ago. I showed up to the hotel today and they told me to wait because my room wasn't ready (they said it would be ready at 3PM when I called and it was 6PM). So i waited for an hour, ten feet from the front desk. Eventually, I walked up to the front desk and they told me they didn't have a room and they had overbooked their hotel. Without asking or even getting my input, the extremely rude manager hands me a sheet of paper that tells me that they have booked an alternative hotel room by the airport and tries to hand me a cash for a cab. I had driven to the hotel in my own car and parked it there. The manager, Yolanda, was extremely rude. I understand that you overbooked the hotel but at least talk to me before making decisions for me. More importantly, don't send me to a hotel that costs 99 bucks a night and not even offer to return my money for your hotel (which was listed at 315 a night).

Great location and room! Enjoyed the rooms decor and comfy bed. TV was kinda fuzzy and lounge at the top of the building was overpriced (great service tho). Friendly staff and all around good experience. Toilet did sound like a launching rocket ship on occasion. Great location and close to everything.

ive been here a couple times rooms are pretty hit and miss. room had dirty towels (foot print was on one), picture frames and mirror had been damaged, and some marks on near window. seems from my stays the higher up your room the better the quality.

We booked a room a week in advance to attend the funeral of my father. There was something in the room that made my allergies react. Most of the night I was sneezing and congested. We arrived that Thursday night and checked out Friday morning after we encountered the horribly condescending assistant manager Hilary. She is one of the nastiest people I have ever had the misfortune of having to address. Obviously, she should not be in customer service and needs more training. I tried to explain why we decided to check out early, and she would not hear any of it. All she wanted to do was charge my credit card. I spoke with a person, Danny, who said he was the manager, but he is actually Hilary's underling. He promised to get back in contact with me, but he did not. Today, I had the absolute misfortune to speak with Hilary whose behavior is even worse than when I encountered her in person. Some people are unfit to be managers, and she is one of them. I will never ever stay anywhere near Mile North and would never recommend it to anyone. For the price, one can do a lot better, and it is not worth the aggravation of dealing with idiots.

We came with a group if 39 for the weekend. When we arrived, the valet was ready and willing to take our giant, 15-passenger vans that won't fit in parking garages. The ladies at the front desk were standing ready with our big stack of keys and our room assignments. And when we were ready to leave, they had all three of those giant vans ready for us in under 15 minutes. Overall, this was the most efficient staff that I have ever experienced. Furthermore, the rooms were great--spacious and quiet. And I had champagne, chocolates, and berries waiting for me after dinner the first night as a 'thank you' for booking so many rooms with them. Beyond that, this is a perfect location--just off of Michigan Avenue enough to avoid the immediate crowds. We will book here again without question!
