Florida has had school resource officers since the early 1980's there hasn't been any issues with students getting hurt by them. Also the students develop a relationship of trust with the resource officers and often alert them them to potentially dangerous issues in time to stop them. It has a long and successful track record in Florida and it can work every where else.
kinda extreme comparing an occupy wall street protest picture to to having a school resource officer. But your point is well taken I have had a change of heart I can now see little kindergartners being routinely pepper spayed for not dressing out for gym. or not finishing all the food on their trays or being late for class.
