Where is a Pint of Bitters

Our wives had a name for the three of us from the office, “The Jolly Boys”. When we were not Geocaching, we might be seen out sailing. The Irish Sea gave us many hours of enjoyment. A couple of times when the wind was brisk enough we did make it all the…

Today was just like most other days, warm with hardly a breeze blowing. My daily habit was to cruise up 16th Street in DC. My usual was to start about Newton St where 16th starts to head downhill to “Tiger Bridge”. You see I’m a pigeon, some call me a…

Let Nature take it's course at Breakfast

There was a time when a good friend and I regularly had breakfast together. Those were good times, it lasted about six years. Then suddenly it all ended. No reason, just some weak excuses. It’s been quite a while since I shared my breakfast table with…

Doors

I found this door along a country road, in Carroll County. Maryland (USA). I don’t think that anyone will be entering or leaving soon. Then there is this Garage door with an “Eyebrow” in Gratitude, Maryland. Finally this old door with the warning Danger…

Snow! Then comes the Big Boys to Plow

We’ve had a few snow storms in the mid-Atlantic states, none of them rivaled what the New England states had, and I hadn’t had the webcam set up. But when the forecast last night came in with 6-10 inches expected, I set up for a time-lapse. This video…

Get Outdoors and do it.
Introduction
Photography, Sea Kayaking, Bicycling and Geocaching are among my top activities. See my Geocaching profile. All that and in my spare time I spend time at the lathe working on old pieces of wood, I guess that makes me a woodturner. And a sometimes ham radio operator - now W9QBJ, the call my late uncle used for many years, I've held the call W3CCV since the mid 1950's

It was quite a while ago, I found it busy with Cyclists - on the Transcontinental route from East to West (or were they going west to East). The food was excellent even though I was driving. Met a cyclists heading from Illionis to the west coast, walked with her back to the campground. If I'm ever in the area I sure will stop back.

A dear friend and I were in Satiago and asked our host to recommend a restaurant with native good food. This was his choice. We did not order from the menu, our host negotiated with the waiter for our dinner. This was the best way to go. in a way we had no idea what we were about to partake of, but it was explained to us. I definitely would eat here again if I return to Santiago. The sound level; was low enough for us to talk, the waiter was ready to answer questions - which had to be relayed through our host as we spoke no Spanish. As we understood it, the restaurant is about 50 years old, and the waiter has been serving there for about 25 years.
