As more industries demand sub-second accuracy, computers struggle to maintain precise time. Why? It's complicated.

The March numbers for Android version distribution are out today, and Android 5.0 Lollipop saw a slight bump to 3.3 percent device coverage compared to 1.6 percent when it first landed on the chart last month. KitKat enjoyed a slight bump to 40.9 percent of devices, up from 39.7 a month ago. Jelly Bean (versions 4.1 through 4.3), on the other hand, dropped slightly from 44.5 percent...

I don't think I like this.
It's been the punchline to plenty of gags, and now it looks as if Google is finally ready to do something with its homegrown social network. The search e

I can't say I'm surprised to be honest. Photo, G+ and Hangouts are very much separate on Android. It kinda makes sense to me. I can't see the problem myself.

People running off to fb are over reacting IMHO.

My wife just tried to kill a creeper with a carrot. Any guesses as to how that worked?

I like that better.

The reports of Google+'s death have been greatly exaggerated (again)

Google+ Chief Architect +Yonatan Zunger says there'll be "no big user-facing changes" connected to the reorganization of G+, Photos, and Hangouts that we've been hearing about over the past several days. ¹

His full comment: ²

A lot of misunderstanding and speculation. :) The internal org was renamed "Photos and Streams," because Sundar likes org names that match what the teams do. And since our org includes Photos, Google+, Blogger, and News, there you have photos, plus several streams of content.

No big user-facing changes tied to this at all.

So stand down, gravediggers. This "ghost town" is still alive and kickin', and we ghosts aren't goin' anywhere anytime soon.

Huawei has announced its very first foray into the Android Wear space at Mobile World Congress with this, the Huawei Watch. For a first entry it's an impressive looking thing, with Huawei boasting a team of traditional watch designers having been involved in its creation. The Huawei Watch comes with a 1.4-inch, 400x400 resolution circular AMOLED display inside a 316L corrosive-...

Story
Introduction
I currently develop server side software for a large pharmaceutical company. My department specializes in Reporting using a web portal and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. My personal role is Server Automation. I came to this job after working in IT for 8 years. Before that I worked as a software developer for 3 years, and before that I worked in IT for 5 years. I have a hard time making up my mind.

I started using Linux personally in the late 90s, and have loved it ever since. I am the owner and creator of Linux Rants. I’m also active in the forums of many technology sites where I can often be found picking a fight. When I’m not online, I’m spending time with my family.
