The Ubuntu MATE Linux distribution is now an official Ubuntu flavor, joining the likes of Xubuntu, Kubuntu and Ubuntu Kylin.

Excellent news.
For some time I (stupidly) didn't like MATE because I wrongly associated it to the arrogance of some Mint people, wanting to take the GNU/Linux world, cursing their parent Ubuntu and all. But it is a very nice and light DE. PCLinuxOS and Ubuntu MATE are very good choices for any kind of user.

Purely selfishly, I'd rather see this with FitBit, but Jawbone sounds fun too.

If recent screenshots of next month's GNOME 3.16 release are anything to go by, it'll be the best release yet.

Since the change for Gnome 3 and the recent "politics" between Gnome RH and Debian, systemD in the middle, I am planing on not using Gnome ever again.

I change my mind on MATE, though. At first, i did not like it (half because of Mint arrogance, half because I am very ignorant). Now I am using it happily.
God save MATE, Xfce, LxQt...

I like this idea, but the current choices that they're offering are pretty lame. It would be better if they offered a couple different designs as well as color and band variations.
Motorola's philosophy is that if you can't customize it, it probably isn't worth buying, which is why Moto Maker will soon let you tailor the Moto 360 to

They need to put actual full color HD panels on this and install Compiz on it.

How's that for a "Cube workspace"?

Also, Arch Linux, FTW!

Introduction
I currently develop server side software for a large pharmaceutical company. My department specializes in Reporting using a web portal and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. My personal role is Server Automation. I came to this job after working in IT for 8 years. Before that I worked as a software developer for 3 years, and before that I worked in IT for 5 years. I have a hard time making up my mind.

I started using Linux personally in the late 90s, and have loved it ever since. I am the owner and creator of Linux Rants. I’m also active in the forums of many technology sites where I can often be found picking a fight. When I’m not online, I’m spending time with my family.
