Take a peak over the edge from the top of the St Louis Arch. Something like 630 feet up.

Standing up my first two new call centers here in St Louis County today. These are related to the beginning of the Property Reassessment season. Meanwhile Avaya and Google announce the next generation of call center technology. Agents now can work from anywhere with WiFi on a Chromebook using HTTPS instead of VPN. Using Googles Cloud platform Avaya contact center agents do everything in a Chrome Browser, including taking voice calls. This new tech is brought about by the developing WebRTC protocols, where Avaya and Google have been leading supporters for an open platform. How long will it be before all communication is via a web browser???

The Google for work blog talks also about this here;

Just changed jobs in early December 2014. I have accepted a position with St Louis County Government as a Telecom Analyst on a team of 4. Here you see the center of my new domain since moving back to Missouri from Texas. At left in Clayton Missouri, the Police Headquarters building where my office is on the 3rd Floor, the County Administration Building, the Criminal Justice Center, and the Courts Building. We have about 50 sites throughout the county and support over 6,000 users. So far I'm loving the area, but will have to re-adjust to Winters.

Updates explained in the new Chrome OS stable build for most devices.

I typed chrome://help/ to launch the update. After a restart my Asus Chromebox went to Version 37.0.2062.119 (64-bit)
Platform 5978.80.0 (Official Build) stable-channel panther
Firmware Google_Panther.4920.24.25
The Stable channel has been updated to 37.0.2062.119 (Platform version:  5978.80.0/5978.81.0) for all Chrome OS devices except Acer C7 Chromebook, Samsung Chromebook Series 5 and HP Pavilion Chromebook  . This build contains a number of bug fixes, security updates and feature enhancements. Systems will be receiving updates over the next several days. Here is a list of Chromium changes.

Some highlights of these changes are:

Multi Sign in support - Easily use multiple accounts with your Chrome Device

New “App info” view in the Chrome launcher

Settings appear in a window, not tab

Save to Google Drive in Incognito mode

Client Certificate Management for organizations using the chrome.enterprise.platformKeys API

Managed Bookmarks - Push and manage bookmarks for your organization

Security Fixes and Rewards

Note: Access to bug details and links may be kept restricted until a majority of users are updated with a fix. We will also retain restrictions if the bug exists in a third party library that other projects similarly depend on, but haven’t yet fixed.

Below, we highlight fixes that were either contributed by external researchers or particularly interesting. Please see the Chromium security page for more information.

Hahaha! This is no surprise to me. Since moving from Kansas City to Texas in 2006 Bar-B-Que is one of the most missed things from home and has been a difficult adjustment. I regularly have Gates Bar-B-Que sauces and rubs shipped here.

I'll just leave this here as a reference for discussion with local friends.

This has become one of my favorite new technologies to follow and learn about. Web RTC represents the next generation of real time communications technology. Voice and video communication without the need for specialized software or plug-ins...browser to browser. Everybody has one.

Here is a shot of one of my current projects. A Transition Networks ION 19 slot chassis holding the first 8 T-1 media transceivers. The lower copper Cat 6 inputs connect to the local PSTN network interfaces. The upper multimedia mode fiber optic patch cords extend the circuits about a mile away where another ION chassis converts the circuits back to copper where they connect to various servers. Note that only circuit #3 is active and the first one to stand up and that adapters had to be used to install a 19 " chassis into a 23" rack.

This arrangement is highly reliable having 2 redundant power supplies, and all gear comes with a lifetime warranty. It also provides excellent built in troubleshooting capabilities.

Optional Ethernet media transceivers can be inserted similarly to extend the distance beyond 100 meters for LAN connections as well, and single mode fiber cable, as well as Coax cable is also supported.

I recently received my first Command Coin in a handshake from Senior Chief Richardson for assisting with an off site All Hands teleconference. We used one our Avaya Aura CM6 Meet-Me voice conference bridges and a Polycom Soundstation for a meeting with all local and Branch Clinic staff at 3 locations.
