This is pretty awesome.

3D Scanning with a smartphone

This is absolutely stunning and offers a variety of uses. From the article where the video is from:

Scientists from the Computer Vision and Geometry Lab of ETH Zurich developed an app that turns an ordinary smartphone into a mobile 3D scanner. Instead of taking a normal photograph, a user simply moves the phone around the object of interest and after a few motions, a 3D model appears on the screen.

And if you still believe in the B.S. called 'Global Warming', 2012 NASA Study addresses the fallacy:

“Carbon dioxide and nitric oxide are natural thermostats,” explains James Russell of Hampton University, SABER’s principal investigator.  “When the upper atmosphere (or ‘thermosphere’) heats up, these molecules try as hard as they can to shed that heat back into space.”

NASA SABER study:

#NASA   #globalwarming   #co2   #climatechange
A flurry of solar activity in early March dumped enough heat in Earth's upper atmosphere to power every residence in New York City for two years. The heat has since dissipated, but there's more to come as the solar cycle intensifies.

+Wendell Fitzgerald  I do agree that our current glaciers are indeed melting, and besides this article did not address nor denied the fact. True is over the course of the earth's existence the ice caps have grown and receded multiple times, and if we are gauging 'global warming' on the state of the ice caps. How could the caps receded in previous ages if there were no human processes to create greenhouse gases to assist in the melting. Point is, I with the 'so-called 2%' believe that we humans have little effect on the earth's climate. There are too many factors in this massive ecosystem to point the finger at a single molecule and it's properties. Should humans be good stewards of the earth? Yes. Are we? Gauging by our current ecological problems, No. This leads me to your final point, can or should we do anything about it? I think the fine scientist at NASA and other organizations are doing a great job analyzing and studying our earth to find REAL answers and not things fabricated by disgraced political failure or tree-hugging activist to drive a false sense of awareness. Let me be clear I'm not at oil happy redneck looking to drill drill drill. I purchased green energy, recycle, and do my part to take care of this beautiful earth. I just think there's something more to our ever changing earth and it's climate than 'CO2 = melting glaciers.'

He makes a lot of good points. If you take off your conservative button, your liberal button, and put down your right wing/left wing hysteria, this might make some since. On a religions front, his point @ 1:00:41 is imperative for Christians to understand. I wasn't planning on watch the 2012 Documentary but now I am intrigued. It's long, enter at your own risk.

Looking to Dinesh D'Souza for insight into the character of President Obama is like looking to a 9/11 truther for insight into the character of President Bush. :-)  D'Souza has been roundly criticized by liberals and conservatives alike for his, uh, creative analysis of Obama's politics, but the most cogent and devastating critique I've read was written by the very conservative thinker Heather Mac Donald: http://secularright.org/SR/wordpress/dinesh-dsouzas-poison/. You might have a look if you are interested in a balanced perspective. (Mac Donald is socially and politically conservative; she is not religious, FWIW.)
