A very personal post about my journey as a Mormon. I think the same lessons are found in most religions but this is the path that has lead to me figuring a few things out.
I've learned over 20+ years that religion is a hard subject to talk about. The only thing harder than talking about about religion... is living it.

good round up for a crazy week.

Smart Local Roundup - Local Stack, ranking factors, guerilla SEO and definitive guide

It's been a fun packed week in the land of local with the introduction of what everyone appears to be calling the Local Stack. Along with some healthy coverage of that the roundup also includes the biennial Moz ranking factors survey and a couple of cracking resources focuses specifically on local SEO. Enjoy!

Google's new Local Stack is now in play
Last week Google rolled out what folks are calling the new Local Stack, which effectively reduces the local search pack down to just 3 players. Debate has been rampant, both around what Google's motivation is and about what this means for businesses in the local search space (Localgeddon anyone?!). There's some great insight in the links below (find your niche) and a couple of interesting click studies that suggest focusing more on organic results may prove to be beneficial. It's only been a week so there'll be lots more chat and analysis on this one in future weeks.

Moz releases results of 2015 ranking factors study
Every couple of years the good folks at Moz roll out the results of their search engine ranking factors survey. These factors aren't necessarily looking to unravel any algorithm but considering the quality and knowledge of the contributors the results give an invaluable insight into what works. In short, links still matter (shocker!!). Check out the full results and contributor opinions in the links below.

Guerilla local SEO secrets
SEO means different things to different people and there's a blurred line between where SEO just becomes marketing. Too many SME owners simple say "can you sort my SEO out" without thinking about any longer term marketing aspects. A local marketing campaign should be about more than having a well locally optimised website and a tone of accurate citations. This great article focuses on some of the other things to focus on, including 3 of my favourite: commitment, consistent and patience. Great read, bookmarked!

Definitive guide to local SEO
This is an absolute monster of a guide to local SEO and dives into everything from optimising your Google My Business page to covering local SEO tools and more. It's huge and I haven't been able to dig all the way through yet but saw it recommended in +Linda Buquet's forum so thought I'd include it here in the roundup.

This is one of my favorite hamburger restaurants in Burley. You can get frys and a burger or burger and frys. The new building is really nice and the burger sauce is great. The only problem is the limited hours. You have to catch them when they are open for lunch and more than once I have craved some Ediths and showed up to find out they were closed. Definitely worth a visit!

We purchased our bed set, table, and carpet for our house from Lee's. The service is amazing and their displays are great! I have worked with Brent, Jason, and Jeff many times and they are all extremely knowledgable and helpful.

The room was very nice and clean. The staff I talked to through the stay was actually quite full of personality. They joked a lot and just were pretty entertaining. The bar area was very spacious and we ended up sitting out and talking on the sofas for a couple hours. Overall this is a great place to stay for business or family travel.

I had the opportunity to work with Eli to buy a 2007 Cadillac Escalade. Being from Idaho I called first to discuss the car and he was very thorough explaining the condition of the vehicle so that there we no surprises when I got down there. He let me test drive it without coming with me and was definitely not pushy at all. I had a lot of questions which he answered and we made a list of things that need fixed which he took care of like a tire pressure monitor, mats for the floor, back tires, and even a new back window button. He was great about it all and gave me a fair price for the car and a fair price for my Denali I traded in. They also told me they start construction on a new office which will be nice as the trailer doesn't fit the cars or the team there. ;-)

I have always been served very quickly and the food is great. The staff has also been very pleasant on all our visits. We have 3 kids and they are always quick to grab booster seats and crayons for them. It is definitely a very nice addition to the Burley restaurant scene. My favorite plate? Currently it's the Build your own Skillet.

I though the Chicken Tiki Masala was fantastic. The atmosphere was great and the waiters were all very attentive to our group of 7. They joked around a little with us made sure that drinks were topped off without question and that the Naan bread basket never emptied. It was great.
