Everyone talks about letting go but what does that really mean?

Letting go implies a loss of something and so we fear the pain of loss. But letting go and losing something are not the same and so the implication is wrong.

Letting go means to accept the situation for what it is. Often we have thoughts about the ways things should be, this is expectation. Letting go means not to expect and to just accept things as they are.

Expectations are fantasies because expectations are a prediction of how some future situation should be.

This is fantasy because you can't ever think of all the possible things that could happen between now and then.

Life and the universe itself is ever changing by nature. So letting go has no loss involved and so no pain either.

Letting go is to gain because not expecting or worrying about the future brings your attention to you and this moment now. And in this moment, anything and everything is possible.

Letting go and living in the now is difficult because the world, society, and our minds collaborate to make us have regrets about the past and worry about the future. What drives it is fear. But fear can be overcome when we start making it a habit to try our best daily to live in the now.

You can apply this to every aspect of your life in the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.
