There seems to be some confusion either lexical or cultural. #expat #gaijin  #immigrant   #Guardian

Are you an expat? Is it expensive for you to go out and have a good time in your country? Not in Japan. Will I miss it when I move back to America? I don't know. #expat #japan #american

Expatriate (n) = A person who leaves their homeland. Ex-patriot (n) = A person who renounces their homeland. They are both pronounced alike. Ex-patriot has not yet been accepted into the dictionaries as a commonly used word. And, as you can see in the Ngram below, the usage of expatriate is falling while expat is increasing possibly due to its acceptance in speech. http://mikexpat.com/2016/01/17/expatriate-vs-ex-patriot/

Are any of my friends here on Google+ playing Ingress?

Hi all! Flankenfurter here. Gaijin playing Ingress. Are there any English/Japanese speakers out there in the Kansai region? I'm in Kobe. Yoroshikuuuu!

Hello! Nice to meet you. I live in Mikage. I'm only level 2 now but I'm hacking and learning as much as possible. I'm on the Resistance. Blue is a nice color.

So I've started playing Ingress. It's been around for a couple years, but I just recently found out about it. It's an augmented reality game developed by Google which requires your phone to help you navigate to real world landmarks which are characterized as game objects. It's quite amazing.

The premise of the game is for you to leave your house and seek public landmarks which are "claimed" by members of different factions. You choose which side you'd like to be on and then attempt to take control of their landmarks (known as portals.)

To take over a portal you have to initiate an attack on it to deplete its energy capsules called "resonators." When you can destroy a resonator, you have a chance to gain control of the portal.

Portals are "linked" together. When they form a triangle, they close to form a field. Controlling fields is similar to controlling land mass. The more land mass that is controlled, the more warm fuzzies everyone feels. That last part is ridiculous but, hey...it's just what I understand as a complete noob.

Let me know if I'm not understanding something.

I got banned from Archeage!! WT#?! OK. Well. Maybe it was because I spammed the chat with HATE okaygoods.com HATE. Their bot is filling up the chat with gold for sale. I decided to spam them back but got banned in the process. They probably also banned me for making my mount run around in circles for hours so I could level it up, and for the fact that I bought some gold on another website to use in the game. Do you understand any of this? #Archeage
