I will rarely link to anything published in this rag, but this was such a spot-on, splendid write-up of a long and fruitful career, that I had to....R.I.P., Leonard Nimoy.
In addition to acting, Mr. Nimoy directed films; published poetry, autobiographies and books of photography; and recorded music.

Kanye West espouses this dreck as if he's speaking from a position of expertise or knowledge of the term "artistry." How laughable. Equally absurd is his assertion that we should (essentially), gather up all the Grammy awards and lay them lovingly and adoringly at Beyonce's feet.

I'm not a huge Beck fan...the guy's a decent musician...but I don't get why he's won that many awards over the years. Ironically enough, I make the VERY same judgment about Beyonce...and struggle to understand the manic, feral worship of her merely acceptable "artistry." Bey honey, you're good, but you -- and most of your contemporaries -- will never be in the same league as Whitney Houston, Tina Turner or Aretha Franklin.

Couldn't have said it any better, +Sam Dune...and *excellent* point, +Travis Boyle. I've since added Tina to my original post, as she DEFINITELY deserves to be "up there" with the two ladies I already mentioned...

The "stuff" UNDER the tree doesn't mean anything near as much as the family members I will be blessed to sit AROUND this tree with tomorrow morning...the gifts for which I thank God every day. May He bless you and yours, my G+ friends, this very special day and on into 2015...

This just doesn't seem possible...I didn't have the G1, but I remember playing with my friend's G1 and thinking how incredibly cool ALL of Android's customization options were. I did buy my first Android a year later -- the HTC Hero -- and have been with the platform ever since. It's been a very fun six years...  :)
It's the year 2008. "Britney Spears" is the most-searched term on Yahoo.com. Tina Fey is impersonating Sarah Palin on SNL. Google and HTC release the very first

"Beer Camp" -- that description ALONE on the label made it an intriguing impulse buy. Truth be told, it's a VERY tasty treat...one of the better additions to +Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.'s seasonal canon...

Awesome, no-pressure sales experience -- thanks, Lance Cote! My wife and I have been utilizing our credit union's car buying service for the past three months to research and find a used Honda CR-V or Civic for our teenage sons to share, but every time we came close to finding the "right" vehicle, it seemed to sell quickly. We found a 2002 Honda CR-V through the buying service earlier this week at Farrish Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram that seemed to fit our needs well, so my wife called the dealership to inquire about the vehicle's availability and was fortunate enough to connect with Mr. Lance Cote. Lance not only provided my wife with the basic details of the CR-V over the phone, but encouraged us to stop by this evening for a test drive. At no time over the phone, nor when we arrived at the dealership for a test drive of the CR-V, did Lance ever pressure us or pull some of the "standard" lines or tricks that some car salesmen use that ultimately make you feel like you need to take a shower when you leave the dealership. We were encouraged to take the CR-V for a test drive and to "kick the tires" to our heart's content. Lance Cote is one of the best sales professionals I've worked with -- he's knowledgeable, personable, motivated, a former Marine (HOO-AH!), and just a generally AWESOME guy to do business with. I felt throughout the entire transaction that Lance was working WITH us, and not just for the dealership and for that, I would bring my business back to Farrish in a heartbeat to do business with this young man and this organization. In fact, *everyone* we came into contact with at Farrish Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram made us feel welcome and worked with us in a low-key, efficient and completely no-pressure way. A few car dealerships out there tend to give the ENTIRE industry a bad name -- but I can testify that Farrish Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram is doing it right, and doing it successfully. They deserve your business, particularly because of sales professionals like Lance Cote -- check them out!

I feel badly for the reviewer above who had such a bad experience eating at El Paso (and whose caps lock key is apparently stuck) -- I've never had anything but the best Mexican food I've had *anywhere* on the East Coast, and at prices that are sure to please. The daily lunch deals are awesome, but even at regular dinner prices, this is the best I've been able to find in Northern Virginia. The wait staff and hosts are always gracious, polite and fast. I can't recommend El Paso enough -- one of my top 3 favorite restaurants, period.

My son and I were attending a weekend long lacrosse tourney nearby and were staying at an outdated and semi-gross Days Inn just off I-95 in Aberdeen. We were looking for a decent burger or sandwich within walking distance on Saturday night. We first went next door to the Greene Turtle but it was loud and crowded. We then walked the other direction and found Grumpy's tucked away in the first floor of a sketchy looking Travelodge - we were seated instantly and treated like kings. The AC was on the fritz on this particular night, but they had fans going and even turned one on us. Dana, our waitress, was outstanding - she checked on us regularly, got our order spot-on and got the food out from the kitchen fast. (BTW, The Grumpy Burger is highly recommended - and Dana makes the best sweet tea this side of Atlanta!) The bartender saw my son's lacrosse shirt and came over to check in with us, and even switched over to lacrosse on ESPN while we ate. In short, Grumpy's is a great place with great food, huge portions, reasonable prices and an awesomely friendly and efficient staff who care as much about holding a conversation and making you comfortable as they do about getting your food and drinks to you as quickly as possible. Dont let the exterior fool you - every neighborhood should have a Grumpy's...

ROLLER COASTER HEAVEN! Living in Northern Virginia, we are within three-hours drive-time to Hersheypark, Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens Williamsburg, all home to some pretty impressive steel and wooden roller coasters alike. (Six Flags America is the closest amusement park to us, but that is place of which we do not speak -- look up the reviews on your own.) If you're primarily a roller coaster fan, however, you will be hard pressed to make your roller-coaster-buck go ANY further than it does at Hersheypark, with ELEVEN different coasters at your disposal. There might be a couple taller and faster ones in those other parks just mentioned, but the sheer variety at Hersheypark cannot be beat in the Mid-Atlantic area. The park is fairly clean, food is somewhat expensive (when ISN'T it at an amusement park?) and there's lots of rides for smaller kids if they're along for the trip, too. Hersheypark is well worth your time and money.
