Dog owners already know this.
We may patronizingly praise and fawn over our clever pooches when they correctly engage in that particularly tasking game of fetch, but dogs have got more going on in their little noggins than we give them credit for.

• 49 percent of Republicans say they do not believe in evolution. Only 37 percent say they do.
• 66 percent of Republicans say they do not believe in global warming. Mind you, even the most science-denying Republicans in Congress have said they "believe" in global warming, they just don't think we should do anything about it. Their base has not yet reached this enlightened state.
• 57 percent of Republicans would support establishing Christianity as our "national religion."

In a federal court based in Texas, this week the iPad and iPhone maker was ordered to pay a total of $532.9 million to patent licensing firm Smartflash. After eight hours of debate, Apple was found to have infringed upon three patents owned by Smartflash and through various applications and iTunes music software.
Summary:The tech giant must cough up roughly half a billion after being found guilty of using Smartflash patents without permission.

From reading their web site the quickly patented memory based theories from multiple companies hard work. Shit! All the companies can sue unless they have an older patent. The older patent will then take the reward away from the patent troll.

So it would seem that Scott Walker indeed has the conservative id pegged, and that Republican candidates seeking primary frontrunner status will indeed need to learn to embrace a base that at this point has become very conspicuously stupid. People for whom even the basic sciences are conspiracies if it goes against what they would rather believe to be true. People who love America very, very much, but have never cottoned to the religious freedom part that was so obsequiously drilled into them in grade school as the very reason the people with the belt-buckle hats chose to settle on this landmass to begin with.

Anyone else notice that in the opening credits, when they show lots of still images from the 80s, there's a picture of Jimmy Carter. But the show is set after Carter left office and Reagan became president.

I hadn't thought about that, and it's not like he was even still relevant or anything.

Every Blogger user behind an "adult content warning" page was told Monday by Google to delete sexually explicit content, or find their blog removed from every form of access except registered users...Rather than leave its already-restricted adult content alone, Google has told Blogger users it will be eliminating all adult blogs from public access on March 23, 2015, (and taking them out of all forms of search).
Summary:In an abrupt reversal of policy, Google will soon disappear blogs on its Blogger platform that don't conform to its new anti-adult policies.

These college students in Texas can't tell you who won the Civil War, who the U.S. gained its independence from, or who the Vice President is, but they can tell you who Brad Pitt is married to and what show Snookie is on.

Good point and one could also argue that there must have been others who did know the answers, that is, this video was made of a poor sampling of the population. But I'd like to think that even Texas requires a high school diploma in order to enroll in college.

Introduction
Presently employed as the Media Editor for e-WV: The West Virginia Encyclopedia. Photographer 1981-2010 for WV Division of Culture and History, an often-fun job that involved illustrating articles for Goldenseal magazine, photographing old-time music and folklife events (Vandalia Gathering, String Band Festival at Clifftop), and doing other stuff to promote arts, history and culture in West Virginia.

OK, what you really want to know is what I'm interested in. With no particular order, and subject to change:
