Hello Everyone,
In case you didn’t know, yesterday was Manatee Appreciation Day, and who doesn’t love Manatees? Today, however, is World Backup Day: http://www.worldbackupday.com/en/

This post is a reminder to back up your files, don’t wait until tomorrow as everything might be gone. The most common causes of data loss are:
• Hard drive failure. Hard drives fail far more often than you may think.
• Accidental deletion.
• Viruses and malware. Recently, ransomware has been on the rise.
• Theft
• Physical damage (fire, flood).

For backups to be effective they need to be easy to set up, automated, and move your data to an off-site location. There are many great services to choose from and cost as little as $1/month! Here are a few great options:

Best for a single computer
Backblaze: $50/year, unlimited data.
http://photokaz.com/backblaze

Best for multiple comptuers
Crashplan: $60/year, unlimited data. Family plans available (multiple computers).
http://www.photokaz.com/crashplan

Best if you mostly want to save photos
Amazon Cloud Drive: $12/year, unlimited photos + 5GB for other files.
http://www.photokaz.com/AmazonCloudDrive

You certainly don’t have to use any of these solutions but I urge everyone to think about their data security and implement a backup plan TODAY. If you don’t, you make the Manatee sad.

Taken yesterday in North Vancouver, Canada. Such a beautiful winter day I had to sneak out for some shooting.

One with the new Nikkor 200-500 f/5.6 VR.  Shot yesterday in Brackendale, BC, Canada.  Eagles gather in this area during the winter months, so it's easy to find them.  500mm, f/9, ISO100, 1/400.
