Not using a VPN, but Mary Ann Turcke's idea of shaming people who are was quite ridiculous.
Bell Media president Mary Ann Turcke sparked an uproar last week when she told a telecom conference that Canadians who use virtual private networks (VPNs) to access the U.S. version of Netflix are stealing. Turcke is not the first Canadian broadcast executive to raise the issue - her predecessor Kevin Crull and Rogers executive David Purdy expressed similar frustration with VPN use earlier this year - but her characterization of paying customers ...

And if you're going to call people criminals, at least get it right. It's certainly not stealing. If anything, maybe smuggling, or importing restricted materials.

It is surprising to me that men like this exist in any large number. Glad to say I've not done anything on this list during my adult life.

+Margo Hannah Yes, I know, my youngest daughter has a strong jock facet and I still have some traits that I would label as such. I don't see that as a terrible thing. I believe jock culture has some good lessons for society (perseverance, healthy competition, teamwork, purposeful lifestyle maintenance... ) But, it also encourages (as +Breen Ouellette was saying) an US-THEM mentality. I think sport culture has this right when we go for a drink with our opponents after a game. It gets it wrong when we take it to far and hurt opposing fans at a football match.

+Wendy James and I make sure that neither we, nor the girls have too narrow a focus. When one concept (like jock) can describe you, it's time to branch out--for everyone's good.

If you haven't had a chance to see how bad the trail slumping is (since it is fenced off), here is a video of my traversal. I found myself diverted here after a walk along the lower trail was interupted by mud and tree branches completely blocking my progress. Signage must have been washed out as well (on the lower trail, that is).

+Brad S I was initially going to do a "real" review. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that this was what was important to me. I'll give a more technical one in a few days. The fact is that there are some great reviews online and some scathing ones. What is the truth?

De gustibus non est disputandum

You'll get your details. Patience Grasshopper.

I think this has application for G+ users to get more of the information you want and less clutter. Lets you organize your posts by topic, into "collections".

For instance, if you hate most of what I say or share, but love my food posts, now you could just follow my Food Inspiration collection. https://plus.google.com/u/0/collection/gqSkb

The organization features are tedious at the moment, if you want to reorganize many old posts. Hopefully, we will see quick improvement.

Introducing Google+ Collections, a new way to group your posts by topic

Our happiest Google+ users are those who connect with others around shared interests and passions. So we set out to give people a place to express the things they love. Today, we’re announcing Google+ Collections, a new way to group your posts by topic.

Every collection is a focused set of posts on a particular topic, providing an easy way for you to organize all the things you’re into. Each collection can be shared publicly, privately, or with a custom set of people. Once you create your first collection, your profile will display a new tab where other people can find and follow your collections.

Posts in collections you follow will appear in your Home stream, with a link to easily jump right into the collection so you can get to similar content from that author. Collections give you a great way to find more of the stuff you love from the people you follow.

Collections is available on Android and the web, and iOS is coming later. For Android users, make sure to update your Google+ app to get access to Collections.

For inspiration on interesting topics, check out our Featured Collections page here: g.co/collections

Create your collections today and share what you love.

I've been asked often. If you have 24 minutes, here is how I do pizza.

--Dough/Crust starts at 0:28 https://youtu.be/Nt3COD_s9IQ?t=28
--Sauce begins at 6:00 https://youtu.be/Nt3COD_s9IQ?t=361
--Construction starts at 19:18 https://youtu.be/Nt3COD_s9IQ?t=1158

Dough (2 12" crusts)
4 c Flour
1 tsp instant yeast
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (or your favourite oil)
1 ½ c hot water
** mix this together, knead well (by hand or machine) and let it rise covered in a warm place**

Sauce
8 medium tomatoes (3 lbs)
8 cloves garlic (1 bulb or 2 tbsp minced)
0-3 hot peppers (to taste)
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
salt & pepper

+Breen Ouellette For $150, it was a total steal. I can't keep the temperature lower than 500F and it easily goes above 1000F. The trick is to not burn the bottom!

Apple Watch II: The more reviewy review
Most useful watch-face So, I guess this is the "real" review. Brad complained that I needed more details in that last post. Fine. The squeaky wheel gets the something, something... 18 Days in. This isn't meant to be exhaustive. These are things that stand o...

It seems that we haven't spoken since February. Typical. There is a lot going on in this post. don't try to understand it or put it in order. Let it wash over you. The bad writing and glaring inconsistencies in the "narrative" will be less obvious this way....

So, pretty sure it will be many years until I can get a Tesla. In the mean time, maybe I can talk +Wendy James into this.
Tesla unveiled a new product line at its design studio in LA tonight. It’s called Tesla Energy and it’s a suite of batteries for homes and for businesses. The existence of the batteries has been one of the worst kept secrets of all time. But we are here at the announcement event and finally have some details. And they’re pretty damn cool.

This isn't to whine about the conditions on this April 26th (although, naturally, I want to) Just a little archival photography.

Also, +Wendy James and +Leora Diakuw are still in Toronto and probably curious.

Power in many #yxe city neighbourhoods has been out since 4am after being mostly restored by 12am from the day before. I'm including the city feed for outages:

https://www.saskatoon.ca/service-alerts?service=service_alert_power_outages

I've turned on the gas fireplace for comfort :) it's only 0°C outside, so pipes aren't going to freeze, but it is 16°C upstairs. Chilly.

When you open the door and cross the threshold, you are off the map ;) Always a great place to browse. The more indy business gets replaced by franchise the better stores like this become. Don't go here hoping to acquire a love of the things within. This is a place for geeks with a passion to seek and to find.

What a gem of a place! They have been selling stellar pirogies here since the '90s. Tucked away right next to King George School, it's also an awesome stop for cabbage rolls, sausage and frozen soups. The sour kraut and onion pirogies blow my mind! Haven't tried cherry yet ;)
