Google has a new test of a local shopping ad unit showing with a map. Its big and it takes up a lot of real estate.

For starters, 69 percent of the 7,000-plus Alexa “Skills” — voice apps, if you will — have zero or one customer review, signaling low usage.

What’s more, when developers for Alexa and its competitor, Google Assistant, do get someone to enable a voice app, there’s only a 3 percent chance, on average, that the person will be an active user by Week 2, according to the report. (There are outliers that have Week 2 retention rates of more than 20 percent.) For comparison’s sake, Android and iOS apps have average retention rates of 13 percent and 11 percent, respectively, one week after first use.

A Wall Street Journal analysis found that ads for products sold by Google and its sister companies appeared in the most prominent spot in 91% of 25,000 recent searches related to such items. In 43% of the searches, the top two ads both were for Google-related products.
A Wall Street Journal analysis found that Google often pushes its growing list of hardware products, from Pixel phones to Nest smart thermostats, in the top ad spot above its search results.

Should a business be forced to show Confederate Memorial Day on their business listing? Should Google even be showing hours for a holiday actually referred to as Confederate Heroes Day in Texas?

We ate here after a long days drive and both the food and our hostess/waitress, Julianna, were the perfect antidote to the stresses of the road. Worth a stop as the dishes were thoughtfully prepared and delicious.

Don't come here for ambience. Come here for very good Indian and South Indian food! The prices are moderate but the flavor is great. We had the onion chili oothappam with coconut chutney. We had never seen South Indian dishes before but they are worth learning about. While the ambience is utilitarian that makes it the perfect family restaurant. Your kids will be welcome here. It's unassuming in appearance but way above average in taste!

This is a new hotel and it's very nice. The location is convenient near both Hobart Williams Smith and Wegmans. The rooms are comfortable, spacious, clean and with very nice beds. The beds were slightly firm but comfortable although there was only one pillow choice that was obvious. The lobby is welcoming and all of the interior space is well designed and attractive. My criticism would be about the value. It is expensive for a room in a 3rd tier market. While not related to the quality of the stay, I find the new exterior design language of their facilities to be quite obnoxious.

The food was well prepared, the wait staff very nice and the ambiance was attractive. The serving sizes were modest and the prices seemed high and it wasn't clear why we weren't seated upon our arrival as there were plenty of empty tables. But it was a pleasant dinner.

A casual, friendly listening space that has some great music. Offers nice beers and a reasonably priced tapas/sandwich. A pleasure to listen to music there.
