If developers do not get behind iCloud, will that give whoever treats developers better — and gives them the broadest platform — the leg up? Who is best positioned to take advantage of these perceived weaknesses?

Big impact news here. The folks will love it, but what's crazy is the scalability... 16TB. Who knew Google would be taking on Amazon S3?

How low can you go -- and not be a piece of rubbish? Not loss-leader thinking but just cheap manufacturing for Chinese maker Lenovo? I think Amazon has to go $199 for the 10-incher to be in the game.
Lenovo announced a new US$199 IdeaPad tablet with a 7-inch screen and Google's Android OS in response to the surge in demand for inexpensive tablets, the company said on Thursday.

Here's an interesting pre-Labor Day read: Is the IT industry unusually tough on older workers, or is that a myth? If workers over 50 -- or even 40 -- face more challenges in the tech market, is that because of unfair discrimination against them as a group? Or in some cases is it true that a higher proportion of them don't keep up with important new technologies -- or are earning higher salaries for performing the same jobs as younger workers?
IT workers over 50, or even 40, are having a tougher time than their younger colleagues staying fully employed. Is it age bias or something more complex?
