Laying out parts for a Pi MAME build.  Pi and controls from +Adafruit Industries and power control using an ATXRasPi.  Case from Michaels for about $5 (painted wood, easier than cutting and fitting acrylic).  Time to start making holes.

looks good. maybe use some strands of fiber optic for the Pi status leds and bring through the top.

I made a thing with several of these parts a while ago (The No-Video Game). There is enough room in those buttons to stuff LEDs, but you won't actually be able to see them light up. Also, they lack the "CLACK" of classic arcade buttons. The joystick is nice, though, I enjoyed it a lot.
