Just gave an great training to one of my savviest clients about SEO, Google+, and social media management. SO much work goes into those, but it's so great to be able to share knowledge and give folks more skills.

Rarely do I use the notification option in Google+, but I really would love for you to check out my latest post on +Moz.

I've been experimenting with some crazy ideas lately about using Google Tag Manager to bring semantic data into Google Analytics as custom events and dimensions. Not only does this let SEOs like us track the ROI of implementing structured data (this makes it easy to segment out pages w/ semantic markup vs. those w/o) but it allows us to leverage the semantic markup we already have in place to make our analytics data more valuable.

I'd love for you to check out the post and let me know what you think.

In late 2014, I started a journey into an idea that I came to call #SemanticAnalytics . My new blog post today is the next step in that journey.

Through the process of trying to figure out how I could track the performance of semantic markup, I discovered that I could use Google Tag Manager coupled with a dataLayer and dynamic tags to push out JSON-LD structured data/markup at scale.

Check out, 7 Steps to Pushing Out JSON-LD Structured Data using Google Tag Manager, to learn how I'm delivering structured data to Google without having to actually add microdata markup to my pages' code. We can also use this method to more elegantly enable the type of Semantic Analytics I first described in my +Moz post (http://moz.com/blog/semantic-analytics).

If you're at #SMX  this week, I'll be doing an in-depth session on this tomorrow at 9am. Join me!

As a follow up to a presentation I did at #SearchFest  in Portland, OR last week on semantic analytics, I wrote up a blog post detailing how I've been using Google Tag Manager to not only track semantic data about the entities on websites, but to also push out structured data as dynamic JSON-LD. I'd love to hear if others have had success with this, too, because it's super exciting!

Thanks for giving me the motivation to actually document this +Aaron Bradley!

Hey +Aaron Bradley! Stoked to share this new post with you! It's the much more thoughout version of my presentation on using Google Tag Manager to bring in entity data to Google Analytics. Let me know what you think.

http://moz.com/blog/semantic-analytics

Since SMX, I've started brining in semantic data as Custom Dimensions, too. Really takes it a level deeper, IMO.

Fabulous stuff Mike - thanks so much.  Curious you should bring up Custom Dimensions - exactly the thought my analytics comrades had when I shared the original "Hobbit" post with them.  So much to explore, and such exciting times ahead.

As you will have seen you've left poor +Jarno van Driel breathless (http://bit.ly/1DrgmT8) - more over there. :)

I went to the Float Shoppe for my second float tank experience and I loooooooved it. Nothing against the place I went the first time (I think it's the only other place in town), but it just wasn't my vibe. The Float Shoppe, on the other hand, made me feel right at home (it's actually an old house converted into a float tank shop) and I was able to relax right away. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable, gave me a full tour, and let me choose a room that was right for me. The float experience was awesome as well. I can't wait to come back. Getting out my calendar right now to plan on a 3-hour float!

Best nursery that I've ever been to in my life. The owner used to work for Intel and left to follow his dream with this nursery! The guy is seriously knowledgable and (no joke) taught me everything I know about caring for trees and other plants. My wife and I have been loyal customers here since our first visit nearly three years ago. We've bought cherry, almond, persimmon, fig, and mulberry trees here as well as some shrubbery. Every time we buy something new, the owner walks us through when to plant it and how to take care of it. He always has a smile on his face, too. Go here!

Veggie Grill is so amazing, I dream about it. The food is transcendental, the staff is amazing (it's like they go out of their way to hire nice people!), and the restaurant is clean and inviting. Also, it's 100% vegan. If you're not down with "vegan food", I'd still recommend giving this place a try. I've brought family and friend here who "don't like vegan food" who have been amazed that the sandwiches don't actually have chicken. Great place, amazing food, must try.

Our whole company went to Wet Planet Whitewater for a team building outing this last summer, and it was a blast! The staff and guides were great, the rafting gear all seemed super high quality, and the river itself was amazing. Really great scenery, fun rapids, and good times all around. The staff at Wet Planet even provided a vegan lunch for me on the trip (which is a big deal for me. lol.) It made me feel like they really cared (which they do!). I'd recommend an adventure with Wet Planet to anyone.
