Weather wise things were looking promising as I set off on my walk this morning. However that was all about to change. You can read all about it in our next blog, coming soon.

Judi Minost and five of her friends enjoyed our Cotswold Way walking holiday in July of last year. Judi wrote this fabulous 5 star Google review afterwards.

Six of us walked from Chipping Campden to Bath in eight days and with the help of Mickledore it was a wonderful, stress free experience. The weather surely helped but then so did our welcoming hosts who received us at the end of each hot, tiring day, some even with an ice cold beer, don’t be fooled into thinking the Cotswold Way is a walk in the park.

Thank you Denise at Troy House, Painswick who was especially kind and we were lucky to enjoy two nights of comfy beds and white fluffy towels, not to mention the range of free toiletries and sumptuous breakfast. In fact all the accommodation that Mickledore booked us into was faultless. Not to mention the transportation of the luggage, the guides and maps – we were given three sets – and the extra information regarding places to eat for both lunch and dinner, not to mention the location of the public loos!

This is the second time we have booked a walking holiday with Mickledore and we were not disappointed so we are currently planning our third for next year when we hope to walk the Westmorland Way. Thank you Mickledore.

Judi, Anne-Marie, Jennifer, Mary, Marilyn and Malcolm

The latest route to be added to our fabulous list of walking holidays is the Peddars Way & North Norfolk Coast.

The Peddars Way has quite a history. This ancient road actually dates back to the Bronze Age. Later during the Roman occupation it was developed into a military route and after that was utilised by 15th century pilgrims. The 48 mile route consists predominantly of green lanes and there are some fascinating archaeological sites along the way.

Victorian seaside towns, fishing villages, stunning beaches and nature reserves with an abundance of bird life make the 45 mile Norfolk Coast Path and absolute delight to walk.

Combined, these two make a thoroughly enjoyable 93 mile walking holiday blending the cream of the Norfolk countryside and coastline. Follow the link to our website for full details of the route.

Really interesting blog by North York Moors National Park.
Nature calendar - January may mean frosty winter days, early dusks, and bare trees and hedges, but that also means it's easier to see flocks of birds and other wildlife.

One of my favourite places to visit is Holy Island in Northumberland. The very fact that three of our walking holidays visit the island is testament to its beauty. I was shocked however when organising photographs this week, to discover I didn't visit the island last year. It must be the first time for as long as I can remember. It's something I intend to put right first opportunity this spring. Note to self; don't put things off, don't promise to arrange things at a later date. Get it organised now! I'm off to plan my year's walking.

We’ve had a slight dusting of snow this week. Just as we had this time two years ago when I was telling myself; action precedes motivation.
Action precedes motivation! That’s what I told myself on Tuesday morning as I looked out the window at a cold and grey Skiddaw, half covered in cloud.

We recently added yet another new route to our growing list of walking holidays. The Herriot Way is your opportunity to enjoy some of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales locations where the well-known veterinarian and ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ author James Herriot lived and worked for so many years.

Start planning your 2017 walking and take a look at our website for full details of this wonderful holiday.
