Attracting and keeping girls in STEM fields is the mission of The STEMinista Project, founded by our very own chief executive officer and president, Dr. Tonya Matthews. Aimed at 4th through 8th grade girls, we seek to spark their interest in order to secure Michigan's STEM industry. Read: http://bit.ly/2fSZWQJ
The Next Idea It’s clear that Michigan’s economic future depends on turning out graduates who are strong in STEM skills - science, technology, engineering

Great facility for 12 and under. Nice little planetarium. Excellent for school groups. The current exhibit on bio-luminescence is great and very informative. Make a day out of it and hit the other very nearby museums!

If you dropped this place in a more vibrant city than Detroit--say, Chicago--I think it'd be packed all the time. Was not crowded when we visited: had the giant Legos all to ourselves for an hour or so. Worth a visit, if you like science centers.

Lots of fun for the kids. We would rather go on the special free days. I don't feel it's a great deal financially with a large family.
Response from the owner - a month ago
Tom - thank you for the feedback. Your family may benefit from a Michigan Science Center membership. Our Family Membership ($75) is good for one year and includes free general admission for two adults and up to eight children. You'll also receive discounts on special exhibits, planetarium shows, and IMAX films, plus free admission to 300+ science centers around the world and more. We hope to see you back soon.

Great family fun. Very educational. Love the science Tesla lab staff..they are the best. Life like space and construction displays. One star removed for lack of parking. Would be nice if they would open a parking structure. You have to park in the streets, if the valet and small lot is full. On the street it's a 2 hour max at 2.00 an hour. I had to run back out, and move my car. Very difficult with 3 small kid's.

Canatrice - thank you for the support! There's always something new to experience at the Michigan Science Center - we hope to see you back soon.

Had a great time! My one year old found plenty of things to do and interact with. The kid zone in the basement was perfect for her. She also loved building with blocks. Will definitely go back!

Son had a great time. Spent maybe 3 hours there easily. A lot of exhibits (maybe 15-20%) were not functional which was disappointing. Fee for adults is more than kids despite it being entirely centered around children. Probably would not have gone it BoA didn't comp my ticket.
Response from the owner - a month ago
Jarod - thanks for spending your day with us! We track the condition of all our exhibits and assign them to repaired when necessary. According to our system, only about six of 250+ exhibits are under repair at any given time. If you're willing to share more information about which exhibits were not working, please send us an email at info@mi-sci.org. We like to say that we inspire curious minds of ALL ages - children and adults alike. We hope you'll come back and give us a second look.
