I believe you know this already Catie but my son is high-functioning too and I have heard some of this over the years as well. I have also had other moms whose children are severe actually yell at me because I don't go through what they go through with their children. This made it difficult to talk to other moms as I often felt guilty that my child didn't have the severity of the other kids. But then I came to the realization that each kid, regardless of the severity or non-severity are still different from the next kid because they are human beings, just like us. This helped me put things into perspective and I stopped feeling guilty. While I do feel very much for the other parents because I have seen their struggles just withing the school environment, I no longer feel guilty for not having those problems. I don't feel guilty because as you said about your son, my son still needs extra help in school and services. I'm glad your son is getting the help he needs. Responding late to #mixitupmonday

I have felt this way many times throughout my life and occasionally still do. I'm 40 years old and I still get that feeling that there is something more out there that I'm missing but just can't get a handle on. I also feel like an alien on this planet sometimes as well. You're not alone in that feeling. I think many of us feel this way at one point or another. I say keep looking for whatever it is. Don't not live your life because you can't find it yet but don't stop trying to find it either. I love the way you wrote this post! Your words just flow:) #mg

I also do all of these things to help improve my mental but to also keep depression in the dark where it belongs but every now and then it still creeps up on me. I think, as you said, this is our burden to bear and we learn to live with it. I have come to accept that while I will continue to do everything I can to live a positive and happy life, I acknowledge that occasionally my mood will drop and I just have to deal with it the best way I know how. It sounds like you have a way of dealing with it too and you know that it will pass. Here's to looking up and looking forward! #DreamTeam

While I can't say that I am Lone parenting because my ex-husband is very much a part of my boys' lives, I do still do most of the heavy lifting and am single. I did try the dating thing a few times on and off and I hear far too many horror stories of online dating. I am such a serendipity type of person that the thought of even signing up for one of those online dating sites is just too foreign for me. Plus, I'm 40 now. I think I am just not willing to be a part of the new dating world. I like to find my partner the old fashioned way lol. For now I am content and I enjoy spending family time on Valentine's Day with my kids. Happy Valentine's Day to you and yours! #DreamTeam

It's National Teddy Bear Day! To celebrate, Oscar and I have blogged about our experience at the Build-A-Bear Workshop in Meadowhall. Why not come and take a look? :)
