Just keep learning.

This piece about the "everyone should learn to program" meme is completely right on.  "Learning to program for its own sake, rather than focused on a task the student wants to achieve, suffers from the problem of attracting only people who are already interested in programming." via +Mike Loukides

I'm looking for feedback on my thesis project - an app (currently website) aimed at teaching preverbal children sign language. In 2007, I had a sign language children's book published by Gallaudet University Press. My thesis explores the benefits of an app as an educational tool. Criticism welcome!

I'm in the Information Design and Technology master's program at SUNYIT.

Only two more days to publicly comment on 14-28 Protecting and Promoting the Open Internet.

Here's mine:

According to your own "What We Do" page on your website, at least three of the five bullet points of your competencies charge you to reclassify Internet service providers as common carriers under Title II.

They are:
• Promoting competition, innovation and investment in broadband services and facilities
• Supporting the nation's economy by ensuring an appropriate competitive framework for the unfolding of the communications revolution
• Revising media regulations so that new technologies flourish alongside diversity and localism

Allowing ISPs to provide "Fast Lanes" for corporations would directly conflict with each of these. It's bad for innovation, bad for the economy, bad for American citizens.

ISPs are not content providers; they are utilities.

If Net Neutrality opponents has been in charge back in the 1970s, I wouldn't have been able to build the first Apple computers

Update: The executive director called me to apologize for the way I was treated. He also outlined the steps they were taking to improve their customer relations. My faith is restored in this organization. Original review: Was treated with an egregiously rude and unprofessional attitude from the shelter manager. Instead of being condescending, try saying, "I'm sorry, our policy is ..." Will never donate to this organization again. I will be supporting CNY SNAP from now on. CNY SNAP does much more with much less.
