General guide to writing photography tips
1. Don’t. Odds are that whatever you want to write about has been already covered by others and most likely in a better way than you intended to do it.
2. Just don’t. If you are still considering it than please Google first. Read the first ten hits on the subject you want to write about. If any of those articles covers what you were considering writing about and covers it better than you were going to do it than please don’t waste your time. It’s been done before, it’s been done better – see the first point.
3. Please don’t. So you have a few pretty pictures and you want to share – that’s what flickr is for, that’s what 500px is for, that’s what a lot of social networks are for. By all means, share your pictures, share your experiences but please, do not write any “tips” – it’s been done, it’s been done better. See the first point.
For the writer/writers responsible for this site (or any blog for that matter) can't defend themselves in a way that doesn't to most people come off sounding petty or negative in the eyes of most readers. Which is frustrating.
I for one as a new photographer find myself very guilty of doing this very problem of making my photos look like the very jpegs my camera can shoot so for me this tip is a good wakeup call for the very problems I run into on a daily basis.
Yes this issue has no doubt been talked about and discussed in other levels, I'm sure you can buy a book that tells you the very same thing but the point of this is ITS FREE. The site is offered to you at no cost to yourself. It's not free however for the creator and an increase in traffic to the site is something that helps offset the cost of maintaining a website like this.
So before you get on your high horse of "Ohh I'm such a good photographer I don't need your petty tips" just realize that its not all about you. This website doesn't have to be for someone who thinks they have nothing else to learn. Nothing is forcing you to come to this website, so if you're going to spout garbage in the comments then why even bother?
