Have just seen a report from this origami. It really is folded from one sheet of paper. Planing this took one year.
I have always wanted to redo the Mens et Manus logo, the first version looked nothing like the real MIT logo, and the posture, expression, 3D-ness was very low-quality. But at the time, I had a very l...

Gutes neues Jahr
あけまして おめでとうございます
Happy new year

Came just back to Cologne from my trip back home over the weekend. It was nice to get out of the city to a more quiet area.

Looks like I am getting closer to create at least acceptable panoramas with the Google Nexus. But it clearly shows, that the angle of the lens should be wider.

Hope you all also had a good start into the year.

Yes, I have been in Hakone, and I am looking forward to go there again. I already tried to climb up Fujisan. But in the morning there was a heavy Taifun, so we were not allowed the final climp up to the top from station 8.
I don't know yet when I will be there, but if you are interested to meet, I happily let you know.

As you know, today exactly one year ago at 2:46pm, a big earthquake hit Japan. This was one of the biggest ever recorded. I could see what this did to a house in Sendai. Nothing was left at it's place inside. Luckily the house is still usable but needed a lot of repair. The house of the neihbour had to be taken down.

Also, I think everybody has seen pictures from the tsunami, that resultet from this earthquake, hitting the north eastern Japan either on tv or newspaper. It destroid more than 70.000 houses and more than 300.000 persons needed to go to evacuation centers.

Unfortunately the focus of the media switched quickly to the problems at the fukushima atomic power plant, completely forgetting about the people effected by the tsunami.

Being now for more than 4 weeks in Ishinomaki, I see everyday how much the media failed and fails to report about the real situation here. Still today, so many are struggling to find their way back to what we would call a normal live. We do our best, but more help is needed.

Also from Fukushima, at least I have not seen it, there is no mention in the mass media what the current situation is for the people that needed to relocate out of the security zone.

So I hope, everyone is joining us today to spend some time in memory of the many people that died, and think about how you can help the even more people that lost their family, home , friends and/or work, still in need in Japan.

Let's work together on this:

While waiting for someone, I stumbled over HDR camera+. As it was already after sunset, I thought this might be a good time to try it out.

And I think the result is really good, given how weak the camera of the Galaxy Nexus is.

Calw is the birthplace of Hermann Hesse. I hope I can shoot a panorama of the market place soon, as it also has these styles of houses called Fachwerkhaus. I like to be there.

freelance web frontend application developer
Introduction
In 1994 I started my career at Apple (Munich office) as a pre-sales consultant, specializing in QuickTime and Apple Media Tool.

In 1997 I changed to Pixel-Factory, Frankfurt, to work in the interactive CD-ROM department. I learned a lot about UX in that time.

As multimedia CD-ROMs were declared dead in that year due to the World Wide Web boom, I started freelancing in 1998. During this time I performed introductory roadshows and trainings for Apple's Final Cut Pro video editing software.

In 2000 I started working for Apple again in the Internet Consulting Services (AICS) team. During that time I learned programming in Java using WebObjects.

Since AICS could not get any contracts, I continued freelancing. The main projects have been a paper for a modern, interactive learning platform and programing a video archive for lecture recordings using php for the University of Munich. I've also written an acclaimed book about Apple's QuickTime Multimedia Framework, together with Frank Kastenholz.

In 2003 I began my work on video archives for pharmaceutical companies at Solutionpark, Switzerland, using WebObjects. In either project I was responsible for all aspects from back- to frontend development.

I have continued working as a freelancer since 2006. The list of clients working with my applications includes Porsche, Porsche Design, one major player in the German chemical industry and the "Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau" and Patrick Mathieu Conseil through Richtwert, Düsseldorf.
Most recently I have specialized in creating web applications with Google Web Toolkit.

My hobbies are learning Japanese language and culture, watching movies and riding my bike.
