“Coming On Strong Again – Virgil Tibbs, Negro Detective, Tangles With Nudists, Naked Murder, and Cunningly Clothed Guilt.”
The “cottontail” of the title is a nickname given to an obviously-not-full-time nudist, in reference to their conspicuous backside, being paler than the rest of them.
Another find from Kayo Books (SF, CA).
Carter Dickson's He Wouldn't Kill Patience or Murder In the Zoo
It's a Dell from 1944 and while the title caught my eye, I was won over by the zoo map on the back cover, which promises a zoo where "magicians and murder meet."
Add to that the fact that the book includes cute little character intros and a list of mystery questions to keep in mind, so the book could be someone's introduction to "how mystery novels work" and there was no way I could leave this one on the shelf.
Interests include: stand-up comedy (Earwolf/UCB/Nerdist), podcasting, comics, cinema, fiction (former English major with pulp tastes), music (esp. indie bands, electronica, global bass, Daytrotter), street art, writing short bits of fiction, the intercultural field, left-wing politics, ants, gas masks, deep sea diving helmets from the early 20th century, science, the unlikelihood of everything, and the visual arts.
Also: breathing in and out, all day, thinking too much about death.
