A real nutter and I have a psychiatrist who diagnosed it, so there! Insanely into outdoor photography, birds, wildlife, landscapes & I guess nature in general
Introduction
BEFORE YOU CIRCLE ME-FAIR WARNING:- Due to spinal degradation I can no longer use my hands to type, fortunately my tongue works quite well so I use Voice Recognition Software...I have been called a blabbermouth so this could translate into tortuously long posts.

Because of the type of analgesics I take if I didn't carry a script with me I would be arrested for "possession with intent"

Additionally I am bi-polar and although often stable, by dint of medication and mind control, I sometimes go ape-sh*t for a while. As a result I take life 1 day at a time

Taking the first three paragraphs into account and given that my tongue generally operates in freewheeling automatic mode any statements made and/or opinions expressed or implied are our tongue's own and do not necessarily reflect the opinions and/or beliefs of the rest of us including but not limited to our brain and left Pinkie

On my birthday in July 2006 I was diagnosed with lymphoma and told I'd be lucky to be around for my next birthday... I'm obviously still around and still have lymphoma. So I try to enjoy every additional day as being something really special

& I laugh a lot especially in the light of the moon /j

My idea of a balanced diet is chocolate in both hands

I design & code my own websites using my voice alone & am probably able to get a page done faster than you could by typing.

As for the rest of my profile:-

I'm an ancient, decrepit, dissolute, derelict whose first emails were sent via cleft sticks and who, with all this newfangled tech stuff is still trying to figure out how to operate one of them thar DVD things (or is it a VHS? )

Been down and out, clawing myself back up and getting there

And oh yeah, I cook some, [using someone else's hands] can make a mean curry, great bobotie, decent chili, like food and dogs but not dog food...

First programmed in BASIC and machine code on a Sinclair (Timex) Spectrum 48k, worked my way up to a 128k version and have remained at that level ever since...Spectrums still work by the way!

First hard drive was 2Meg, was told I'd never ever need anything bigger & I believed them... Sucker!
Darn thing cost more than than a full spec i7 with 2terrabyte drives would today...

Somewhere along the way I do a bit of internet marketing but not to internet marketers and if anyone had the horror of seeing me in a hangout at the moment they'd realize that that cliche 'bout PJ's is dead on..

Guernsey lily aka Jersey lily (Nerine sarniensis)
                                                    (Best viewed large)

Strangely, in spite of its name, this flower is not native to Guernsey or Jersey in the Channel Isles but instead comes from the Western and Northern Cape Provinces of South Africa...

It was however, first discovered in Guernsey because a bulb from a shipwreck washed ashore on the island and later produced its stunning flower

It is also not a lily but is related to the Amaryllis instead.

I tried for a somewhat softer focus on this in an effort to bring out the fragile nature of the blossom... Don't know how successful this was...

Ecstasy

Got my new camera 2 days ago together with an 18-270mm walk about lens.
It's a massive step up from what I was using before and I'm somewhat overawed by the size of the manual.
Guess it'll take a few days before I can handle it with anything approaching confidence (No I'm not talking about Auto or SCN settings)

Silvertree Leucadendron argenteum.

Endemic to the slopes of Table Mountain, Cape Town. Listed as endangered.
The fine hairs on the leaves reflect the sunlight causing the leaves to shimmer when the wind blows.
At one stage the slopes of Table Mountain were covered with these trees, now only a very small population remains.

Reflection
                              (Best viewed large)

Common Moorhen taken at Rietvlei Wetlands Reserve, Milnerton, Cape Town.
I was lucky enough to go there on a day without the slightest puff of wind in the air when the water was at a high level after the winter rains...
The sky was an intense blue lending its color to the water.

A bunch of flowers
(Not the most fantastic photo but interesting)

Scadoxus multiflorus aka Fireball Lilly, Blood Flower, Poison Root (Afrikaans:- Bloedblom, Gifwortel)
The head of a single stem can consist of up to 200 flowers generally forming a ball shape.
Although the example in the photo has nowhere near 200 blooms, it does have quite a number...
Found in southern and tropical Africa.

"LBJ---Little Brown Job"

Well that's as far as I've got in my identification of this little bird.

Maybe it's the viewing angle that's got me stymied. When I catch a wake-up it'll turn out to be one of the most common birds that I should have identified immediately...

Spotted? Flycatcher then is probably a safe bet - just inbetween the typical speckled hatchling and adult plumage. Don't quote me though +Michael Tracey!
