MY NEW ARTICLE

I'm calling it...

The best book that I've read in the past year is Poor Charlie's Almanack: The Wit and Wisdom of Charles T. Munger.

Munger (Warren Buffett's longtime business partner) presents a very compelling and unique approach to one's life and career that I haven't seen elsewhere.

I've already re-read its 500 pages, and it has led me down a rabbit hole of interesting reading, interviewing the chairman of Bain & Co., and ultimately to this article that I wrote.

I hope you enjoy it!

Countless books and articles have been written about Warren Buffett. Surprisingly few have been written about his business partner of over 40 years, Charlie Munger.

Have you ever noticed that the most focused entrepreneurs are often the most successful?

I have!

At the same time, in a world with so many distractions and opportunities, staying focused is harder than ever.

That's why I asked some of the most focused entrepreneurs I know how they stay focused.

I've literally adopted 7 of the 10 strategies since writing this article. They work!

A few times per year, I have the opportunity to interview a top expert in a field and have my perspective on relationship building completely transformed.

I had such an opportunity in writing this article. I loved writing it.
I hope you enjoy it.

August 27, 2000 was one of the most important days of my life. I was loving my newfound independence and soaking in my second day of orientation at NYU. Little did I know that I would meet my future wife that evening. A group of guys I was with connected with [...]

I just published my second article for Inc.!

Introductions have changed my life. IMHO, they are my most important relationship building habit.

Thus, I decided to turn them into a habit after being inspired by Adam Rifkin.

In this article, I openly share the biggest challenge that I had getting started.

I hope it helps with your introductions.

What is your biggest tip on making high quality introductions?

http://bit.ly/1tkrdsR
Consistently making awesome introductions is harder than it sounds. Here's how I made hundreds of introductions last year.

We are 8 F.A.S.U. (8 year after Facebook status updates).

Suddenly, hundreds of millions of people are creating content for their networks daily.

This means that we as a society are not just building relationships through conversation anymore.

We’re building them through content.

The goal of this Forbes article I wrote is a universal set of principles for creating digital relationships just as valuable as Dale Carnegie’s principles were for creating in-person relationships.

Throughout human history, the predominant way we’ve built relationships is through real-time conversation. This throne is about to be taken over -- if it hasn’t already.

Over the past year, my life and perspective on the world has been dramatically transformed as a result of the interviews I've done of top network scientists. Based on what I've learned, I've changed what I read and the networks that I'm apart of.

Their findings are surprising and counterintuitive.

So, I spent 30+ hour condensing everything I learned into this article so you could apply it to your life as well.

It has been over three years since Steve Jobs died. Since then, books have been written and movies have been made. Each has celebrated his legacy and aimed to share the secrets he used to build the largest company in the world; things like attention to detail, attracting world-class talent and holding [...]

Exciting! Today, Entrepreneur published a piece featuring Empact Showcase honorees and their #1 habit for keeping their energy high all day long. The contributions go beyond anecdotal experiences and include links to academic studies.

IMHO, how we manage our energy is the #1 core thing we can do to feel positive, work hard for a long time, and make important decisions throughout the day.

Lots of interesting ideas I have never thought of.

To understand unique and healthy ways to consistently and quickly boost energy daily, I asked dynamic entrepreneurs to spill their best-kept secrets.

Just published my newest article for Inc...

Are you making this common mistake? People who are good at building relationships are especially susceptible.

I just published my first article for Inc. today (http://bit.ly/1B7gbLE).

I'm very, very, very excited and also a little scared.

I'm excited because I have tremendous respect for Inc. I've read it since I was in high school, and our organization has been a partner with Inc. since we started in 2006.

I'm scared because I've committed to going on a schedule of publishing at least one article per week. This will really force me to systematize my writing and commit to using more of my evenings to write after the children have gone to sleep.

I'm up for the challenge.
Introductions can be the most powerful way to build a network. However, if you make the same mistake I made, it can be the worst way.

Just published my latest article for Forbes!

Out of all my articles so far, it was the one that I'm the most proud of.
It's a culmination of the 100+ interviews I've done over the past 18 months.

It proposes a skillset for building authentic relationships in the digital age.

http://onforb.es/1Auxaan
Throughout human history, the predominant way we’ve built relationships is through real-time conversation. This throne is about to be taken over if it hasn’t already been. As I wrote about in Why Creating Content Trumps Face-To-Face Meetings, the new king of the land is content. Beers at the bar has become status [...]

[ MY NEW FORBES ARTICLE LIVE ]

Over the past year, I’ve written extensively on the art and science of building authentic relationships. I’ve written about the power of everything from cultivating one-on-one relationships and making introductions to organizing dinners. I’ve interviewed many of the world’s top relationship builders and researchers and then applied what I've learned in order to share the most powerful ways to build relationships. Ironically, what I’ve personally found to be most impactful was not something anybody said.

Over the last year, I've interviewed 100+ of the world's top relationship builders and researchers. My No. 1 takeaway is ironic.
