This is of my favorite seascapes I have taken in the past year. The photograph is a still frame from a motion controlled Timelapse sequence . It was not easy hiking all the gear down to this spot, but the views were well worth the effort. Me and my buddy Toby rushed out of the car at Sutro Baths and ran down the trail with all of our stuff, me with my pack, three tripods and a 6 foot dolly, Toby with a similar set up. As much as we like to be in a spot set up 30 minutes before sunset, that isn't always the case, we were pretty much racing the setting sun.
With the shot and dolly move already in mind, we threw down our stuff and quickly built up the dollies . In the process I think we made a confused fisherman uncomfortable on the other side of the cliff. We caught the sun going down and some nice afterglow as well. Its always rewarding being able to capture the beauty of nature, but it is even more rewarding being there for the experience and witnessing the magic unfold with your own eyes. To me thats what photography is all about, its the adventure and the journey.
