Taken at the 200tj anniversary match between Herts and the MCC. Looks like it could have been the 100th anniversary with this picture.

The threat of "h-activism" is a real threat to the very foundation of lawyers acting for anyone regardless of their background.  Doesn't everyone deserve representation, regardless of what they might have done or be accused of?

Thanks for the share +Michael Scutt - fascinating story behind your blog. A classic case of over-reaction? But at least, as you say, if that was the case the WMP did see sense and reinstate.

Great article on blog goals for 2024. My blog got savaged by Panda, Hummingbird etc as well, so I'll be paying particular attention to the advice here. It's interesting that he sees email as being indispensable. I thought email was dying!

Here's an interesting post on using social media to promote your blog. I'm of the view that tip no.1, if done properly, is more important than the rest put together. What do you think?

SM Strategy for Lawyers  -

It's interesting to see that personal recommendation is now third on the list of ways people get recommendations for professional service providers.  It's also interesting to see that websites alone aren't enough (but we knew that already didn't we?) and that, hopefully, is a nail in the coffin for the emphasis on SEO.
More so, per a report (pdf) from Hinge Research Institute on how purchasers check out professional services firms before hiring one. Before the Internet, things were pretty simple, buyers of professional services, including legal services, turned to colleagues and references. Buyers talked to individuals they trusted or others in the industry for information on a professional’s strengths and... Continue Reading

Most interesting +Michael Scutt. What I totally agree with is that one's internet presence is important no matter the source of work. Even existing clients need this for their reassurance.

But referrals way outweigh social media for us - and we have never paid for referrals (because we think it's an inappropriate business model for professional services). Referrals are so so important.

Very interesting article. IGoogle+ certainly seemed to gain traction! finally, in 2013. I  also think the point about Facebook being for low value work is very interesting. I'd never really thought about it like that before. Would you say Google+ is more about B2B than B2C?
There is a strong argument that Google+ is set to take centre stage for lawyers, overtaking Twitter, Facebook and possibly even LinkedIn. How much effort we put into any particular social media pla...
