2015 Top 12

It is good to reflect on what you have accomplished over the last year. My year began with a series of storm chasing in Eastern Colorado. We had a wet an wild spring that brought some amazing clouds and warm light. Then in the fall I was off to the Arctic. This was my third trip into Greenland. Here I was finally able to capture some of the scale of Greenland. Tiny zodiacs juxtaposed to giant Icebergs. Giant Icebergs set against an even larger wall of rock. I ended my year with my fifth trip into Iceland. There I began a new series. An exploration of "Division of Light and Dark". Something that had been playing in the back of my mind for several years that suddenly decided to leap forward into my images.

I am beyond words ... I am honored and humbled to have been awarded a Grant from the Luminous Endowment to travel to Antarctica. I can not thank the Jury Panel enough for their support and belief in my work.

Honored that the BBC is using my image from Greenland for their lead image of their story.

The Green

The glowing green of the Aurora is something that has to be experienced in person. Even your mood is transformed by them. It is hard to not feel like a child and have a grin from ear to ear.

With +John Paul Caponigro and +seth resnick at Jokulsarlon Iceland.
