From the article:

The Berniebro is now what happens when Reddit eats a fairly liberal, if irritatingly opinionated white guy, and spits him out. He is tired, he is covered in boils, and he is intent on destroying Hillary Clinton by any. means. necessary.

And he is making the campaign look bad.
If you disrespect Bernie Sanders, you’re going to get a visit from his social media goons. They are passionate about campaign finance reform, staying active in one’s 70s, and being very, very manly.

First Google stops autoplay of Flash ads in Chrome, then this. "Mobile" sites that force-push you to install an app (Linkedin being the worst offender by far) deserve to be spanked down not just by Google.

I hope they do something similar for sites that greet you with a screen filling pop up requesting you to register your email address which is equally if not more annoying.

From the article: The company is no longer designing their products and services with a customer experience that will woo us to be loyal, but for profit maximization now that we're here.
Writing for Fast Company, Mark Wilson says Amazon's Dash button isn't as convenient as it seems, and the savings aren't great either.

Problem: At this point, the ecosystem around Javascript is so densely layered and frequently changing that maintenance of any project over any significant period of time is going to be a nightmare.

Agreed - it's a struggle to limit the number of JS libraries and frameworks we depend on in our code, and requires constant reminders of the ongoing cost that each new library entails.

Another push advertisement from Apple on my OSX El Capitan installation.  This time, Apple is breathless to tell me its bundled Maps application can now provide transit directions, like Google Maps has done for years.

Once upon a time, Apple didn't do this sort of thing.  They respected their users.

I'm so glad that Transit information is now available in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Say, I hear that Berkeley is transferring the transitinfo.org site to 511, and there's a new startup called NextBus.

Much ballyhoo is being made over Microsoft's plans to start showing Ads in the Windows 10 start menu.

No one seems to call out Apple for their equally boorish behavior. Every time I launch Chrome on my El Capitan Mac, I get this ad from Apple in the form of a push notification.  Is an ad serving Apple's interests really good user-centered design?

The two options are "Later", which will make the popup return in the future, and "Try Now" which will not only launch Safari but also ask you to make Safari the default browser. Apple felt it did not need to provide a "No Thanks" option.

Here's a really good writeup on this mis-feature, and how to disable it: https://www.aeyoun.com/how-to/osx-try-safari-promotion.html

Oh, come on, Mozilla -- grow a pair.
It's a long way away, but still the right move for Firefox to make.

On July 14, 2015, after nine and a half years journeying across the Solar System, NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft made its historic close pass of Pluto and its moon Charon. Traveling a relative velocity of nearly 13.8 km/s (that’s almost 31,000 mph!) New…

HTC to cut 15 percent of its workforce following poor sales

Can you say "death spiral"?
HTC’s long running revenue troubles have been well documented, but this year has seen the company plunge back into the red as sales of its flagship HTC One M9 smartphone have fallen flat. As a result, HTC has announced plans to lay off 15 percent of its workforce, in a bid to cut costs and improve its profitability. The job cuts will affect staff worldwide and could reduce the company’s size by more than 2,250 roles. In total, HTC is looking t...
