There was something really fun about the posters for 70s disaster films — the illustrations, the laundry list of stars and the taglines

For some reason as I child recall remembering a commercial for Mamma Leone which was a Times Square Italian restaurant — so of course I had to google this immediately and found out that they haven't been in business since 1994. Oh well, I guess I'll never get to go now!

According to economist Bruce Greenwald the fate of manufacturing is the same as farming: It's going to become a tiny slice of the economy that only employees a few people. His solution to income inequality is also interesting as he proposes what's known as a Negative Income Tax (which actually is an old idea that was first proposed in the 1940s by British politician Juliet Rhys-Williams)

This is what I just experienced in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in the early afternoon: No campaigning from either side handing out anything. No waiting on line. Got my ballot within a minute of getting to the desk. People were voting, and it was pretty much an older crowd (I only spotted one person under the age of 40).

There are Bernie signs in storefronts of the more hipster oriented places like high end restaurants and bars, but that's it. This wasn't as light as the NY governor's primary, but it didn't have the turn out of the 2008 primary race. The reality I'm seeing is that the Bernie campaign isn't as well organized as the Obama campaign that wrote off NY state.

In NY you can hand lit outside of a specified distance, which all campaigns do. Also in NYC on the day of the race you position yourself at places that get the most foot traffic like the entrances to subway stations. And of course you knock on doors and make phone calls. The Sanders campaign did little of that, although they held giant rallies for their own supports but did no outreach.
