Dress the black guy in a suit and compare reactions.
Racial profiling - just as any profiling - is a natural thing. It didn't come from nowhere. How come the typical profile of an Asian family is different? Perhaps because for years the crime levels among Asians were low and generally they are regarded as diligent and calm.

This is positive profiling, based on experience - vs. negative profiling, also based on experience.

If you saw a bulky white guy with a shaved head there, what would you think? And what if it was a guy in a suit? Or an older person? What if it was a woman? In all these cases reactions would vary.

The irony is that in Africa black people tend to trust white people more than other black's. And not without a reason too.

All across the world people are profiled because of their race, their country of origin, their looks, the way they dress, the way they smell and the way they behave. Each one of us does it on a daily basis.

Woah woah, now you might not like Singapore for a few things, but you do have to respect it for what it achieved. Now if you see NO REASON to be proud to be Singaporean then I'm sorry, but you are the narrow-minded person here, not Singaporeans.

All that matters to you is... yourself. Yes, Singapore is not the best place for an artist, that I will agree with. But this whole rant says nothing more than that. If you want to be an artist then there's no better place to do it than Europe in fact. But there are trade off's - many of them, such as crime, taxation, bureaucracy that mess up your every day and are obstacles that prevent most of the society to grow.

Of course, as an "artist" you don't give a damn - which is exactly the ignorance you displayed while talking about the "minimum wage". Everybody gets paid for the value they deliver and in all countries with any minimum wage you always get higher unemployment rates because people who work for less don't get ANY JOB at all!

So that's why unemployment rate in SG is 1.8% and in Australia it's 5.8%. But hey, why would you care, right?

Singaporeans managed to create one of the most developed countries in the world and excel in dozens of branches of economy - from finance to technology. I don't know how narrow view must you have to not be able to acknowledge them for that.

Ever wondered why people FLOCK to Singapore from all over the world? It's not for expat packages - it's for the standard of life you're getting. Singapore has the best airlines, the best airport, the best public transportation system I have seen in the world. And yet it managed to stay a green, people-friendly city.

There's a TON of reasons to be proud of Singapore - and these are just some of them. Just because you couldn't find a place there doesn't mean you have any good reason to ignore achievements of everybody else.

One thing that pisses me off about Singaporeans is the fact that so many of them whine. Some of you people haven't really seen the world. You should go and travel more, live in many different places. And then, when you come back, you will appreciate your own country more.

As for me - it is the best place to live in the world right now.

+Michael Pietrusinski  Wow your knowledge and maturity in your thinking definitely shines through in your comment. Her self-centered, condescending and ungrateful reply in contrast sticks out like a sore thumb. I really wished more people could see what you wrote but y'know Google+ sucks so it's hard to find your comment even if its upvoted
