Had a thoughtful conversation today with a customer at work about writing the same program in different languages while focusing on the unique aspects of each language. Meanwhile everyone else stood around watching us wondering what the heck we were on about. A great day I should think.

Yesterday, +Seth Davis and I started looking into the Pathfinder RPG. Man it's daunting. Any suggestions? Also, anyone know of any online play groups for it?

I love my new Nexus 6. I think my favorite feature besides the 64GB of space is the front facing speakers. They're simply brilliant.

Android 5.0 Lollipop in a word? Beautiful. Two words? Simply amazing. I'm in love with my Nexus 4 all over again.

These animations really make a huge difference. I've always thought iOS had the superior animations, but Material Design on Android takes it to a whole new level. I was excited when Google announced the Material Design guidelines, but to actually get to experience it first hand is fun, whimsical, and magical.

But there is one question... How much is Samsung going to alter and largely ignore this wonderful experience via TouchWiz? Samsung has great hardware (even if I am opposed to physical hardware buttons) but the amount of useless software features and designs they include in the name of being different spoiled my time with the Galaxy S5.

I understand the issues with TouchWiz and other such skins can be resolved by running custom firmware, but I prefer to look at this from the view the average consumer. Also, I single out Samsung due to the sales success and wide spread adoption of the Galaxy series, but the question remains the same for the other manufacturers as well.

But, in the spirit of Android, at least we have choices.

I'm normally not one for phones larger than 5 inches, but the new Nexus 6 may be my first venture into the "phablet" territory. As much as I want the new Nexus 9, it's a bit much to buy both devices. My phone needs an upgrade (iPhone 4s) and my tablet needs an upgrade (Nexus 7 2012). I'm thinking I'll upgrade the phone first.

Just imagine if this never happened.
Forty years ago, the IEEE Transactions on Communications published a paper by Vint Cerf and Robert Kahn titled “A Protocol for Packet Network Intercommunication,” establishing what's now known as the TCP/IP Protocol Suite. Essentially a model for how information can be transferred and routed across multiple networks, it's the foundation of the modern Internet. Today we're celebrating the 40th anniversary of the first publication of the Internet design—and looking with great curiosity toward the ever more connected world of the future: www.tcpip40.com

The shop keepers I encounter in Animal Crossing have better sales skills than some of the people I've met in real life. I would hire them.

Updated my Galaxy Nexus to 4.4.2 today. Best update ever! Was on the verge of calling it quits with my Gnex after a loving relationship since launch day. Really, though, today made me realize that this beauty has aged liked fine wine.
