Not sure how many of you out there are racing or auto fans, but I went out to the Laguna Seca American LeMans Series a couple weeks ago and have a few shots. I normally bring the D700 with grip to the races, but I thought I would see how it went going with the tiny 1 Series. All shot with the V1 in RAW. PP'd in LR4.  #v1   #nikonphotographers   #lagunaseca   #alms2013   #autoracing

I haven't posted many photos lately as my V1 was out sick for a while. I just did a day trip out to the wine country to Artesa Winery in Napa and have a few photos. These were all done with the V1 RAW and processed in LR4. All shot at ISO 100, Nikkor 30-110mm.

Interesting to see Aptina offering a pretty high performance 1" sensor ready for 4K and 80 FPS. A probability for future 1 Series cameras?

Here is a photo of the Las Vegas strip shot from my hotel window. Noise is a serious issue with this sensor at night. Shot at ISO 3200 Nikon 18.5mm @ f/1.8 shutter 1/13 and hand held. Kept the Nikon auto white balance as set, which I thought looked very good. Noise reduction of 25 in LR with additional added to the sky to reduce the noticeable noise. Overall, I liked the rendition of color in the late dusk of the evening. #nikon   #v1   #lasvegas   #nightphotography

Well, I just received my V1 back from Nikon. Sensor is still scratched as I did not get it repaired. I supposed I will continue to use it and just fix the anomaly in post. Still, it is nice to have it back.

Well, I've been without my V1 for a few weeks now trying to get it repaired. It appears that Nikon will not repair the damaged low pass filter (the filter that covers the sensor) under warranty.

Unfortunately, there is no way to prove that it wasn't in the camera when I bought it. I have a feeling either QA missed it, or perhaps it was damaged before I received the camera from the vendor (perhaps it was a tested and returned model.) I will admit to using a blower brush on the sensor when I saw the defect in image, but never touched the sensor screen.

The price to repair it? $506 USD. That is over $100 more than what I paid for the camera with two lenses. An NPS rep put in a good effort for me, and they did offer a discount of 50%, but still at $250 for a repair, it didn't seem worth it to me.

I suppose I will use it with the damaged artifact in image and wait for a V3 or V4 to upgrade to sometime in the future, or perhaps an OM-D EM-5 might replace it. #nikon   #warranty   #notfixed   #v1   #sensor

Just a follow up to +Richard Murdey and his post regarding the 32mm f/1.2 lens release date. NikonRumors states that the release date may be coming sooner than what we thought. I'm sort of hoping its true but my wallet isn't. #nikon #1series #lens #portrait #32mm #releasedate
