School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Science and Engineering Faculty
Queensland University of Technology (QUT)

The Australian Centre for Robotic Vision (https://www.roboticvision.org/) is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow for a range of self-driving-car research projects and demonstrations. The role involves working with some of the world’s leading experts in SLAM, localization, perception, detection, sensing, scene understanding and action recognition across the centre’s nodes at 4 leading Australian universities (Queensland University of Technology (QUT), University of Adelaide, The Australian National University and Monash University).

Please support our Kickstarter Campaign "STEM Storybook"! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1740916372/stem-storybook

The STEM Storybook is a beautifully illustrated collection of stories to helps kids learn and understand key STEM concepts in a super fun way.

We’re all about engaging and exciting people of all ages in STEM. We’re already working with teenagers through Math Thrills workshops and a young adult novel, and adults through Maths in the Movies workshops and studio-approved Hollywood science movie reviews.

Now, inspired by our own young kids, we've created the STEM Storybook to help kids in those critical early childhood years. Please get involved and spread the word to family, friends, teachers, parents, early childhood carers and educators!

I'm halfway through an amazing eye-opening 3 week tour of the USA and Canada. So far I've... seen a bit of the unknown future at Amazon in Seattle, heard about the future of computing from Nvidia, seen how world class robotics research can still occur in a university context at University Washington, seen one of the most impressive approaches to self-driving cars at Toyota Research Institute, briefly toured Google and seen their evolution, stress tested a Tesla S, seen a Google Waymo self-driving car in the ride, played with virtual reality and seen 60 amazing neuromorphics researchers trying to blur discipline boundaries between robotics, machine learning and engineering.

Phew... I'm exhausted but it's been awesome. The same again to come as I head to Robotics Science and Systems in Boston, Harvard, BU, OpenAI, Uni Toronto, Uni Notre Dame, Uni Nevada...

This is my finalized itinerary for talks / meetings / visits for the United States and Canada in July... if you are at or near one of these locations / institutions at the same time, please hit me up if you want to chat.

Thanks also to all those who responded where logistics didn't work out - already way too many plane flights and too long away from home - next trip!
