For those who don't like ORM, but prefer some kind of active record pattern on top of Doctrine DBAL: Have a look at http://lastzero.github.io/doctrine-active-record/ - the code is actively used in a number of commercial and Open Source projects already, but I just managed to publish it and do some code clean-up.
Doctrine ActiveRecord. Object-oriented CRUD for Doctrine DBAL. View on GitHub Download .zip Download .tar.gz. As a lightweight alternative to Doctrine ORM, this library provides Business Model and Database Access Object (DAO) classes that encapsulate Doctrine DBAL to provide high-performance, ...

According to the personal feedback I get in the PHP developer community as well as this Google Trends graph, Zend Framework 2 quickly lost it’s initial momentum while SensioLab’s micro-framework Silex slowly but steadily is attracting more developers. If you already work with Symfony 2 and...Read more

I'm looking for a Senior / Lead Developer for our Berlin office (full time, permanent) who likes to work with #PHP7 and #Symfony or #Silex. Strong refactoring and unit testing skills are required.

Introduction to my way of testing PHP code. This approach let’s you create tests much faster, you’ll get a higher code coverage and need to invest less effort in maintenance.

While some developers seem to prefer to implement their user data validation rules directly in the model layer (or even worse, the ORM entity layer), this very often leads to problems as described by Stefan Priebsch in his blog post on How to...Read more

This is really one of the worst clubs I've ever been: it's small and the sound a disaster. The dance floor is sticky. The few guests I've seen were mainly tourists or criminals. When I ordered a simple orange juice at the bar, they charged 5 EUR (even red bull is only 4 and coke 3 EUR). At least you can get in for free if you arrive before midnight (Techno-Wednesday).
