It has been 30 years so I could be wrong, but I remember in 1980 I was involved in the decision of deciding if we wanted to switch to ADA or C for the computer langrage of our server. C was a bit too simple and ADA to complex. A new version of C (probably C+) was released at the time making the decision mote since C+ was much better then ADA.

As you see, Unix was not the only main frame langrage being used. I guess I was mistaken in thinking Unix came before C. What I should have said was Main Frames existed before C or Unix. If there was no C, Unix would have simple had a different format. It is foolish to think it wouldn't exist at all.

Windows used DOS and BASIC when it was first released. It wasn't until Windows 95 what they switched from DOS to a C based program. This was 25 years after the release of C, after it had seen much improvement from the original version. It there was no C, Windows would have simply used something else.

Linus and Lucy! This is one of my favorite of Benoit's performances of this song.

I am about to submit a grant proposal while listening to Yanni. Is there a connection between these things? I DON'T KNOW!

If you're a webcomicker, especially someone I know on Twitter, and if you have circled me in the last couple of days, there is a high probability that I didn't notice because of the flood of Circle sharing. Just let me know if I didn't circle you back.

+Michael Kinyon I definitely will be when I get some people in there. Basically sketches, occasional early posts (not always, that would be somewhat unfair for my site), and special info and news!

This is interesting! I got "4", with lowest discrimination in the blue-green range.

Overheard at the Thanksgiving gathering...
Ethan: Did you get more chocolate than me?
Chris: Yeah
Ethan: So did I!

You'd be surprised, Michael, how people forget simple things that were taught to them in primary school. For example, at the airport, I had a security agent asking me if 10cl was 100ml. Now, in a Country where everything is set to the metric system and no other system whatsoever, and that makes you study that stuff 3 times (in primary, middle and high school)... forgetting something so elementary really does tell you how the coming of the internet is replacing long term memory with short term memory types of information only. There are studies on this stuff!
