Peter Saint-Andre will join us to share their various insights and observations, including:
- What &yet is doing with the Talky videochat service?
- Our experience with XMPP & WebRTC
- Our experience with the Jitsi Videobridge (tl;dr we love it!)
- Our view on WebRTC and ORTC, developer experience, and the like
- Where we see the most activity in WebRTC applications
- Is the age of the general-purpose communications app over?
- Will we ever see federation with WebRTC or just more silos?
This Hangout On Air is hosted by Voipusers TV Hangouts. The live video broadcast will begin soon.

In the production of over 530 VUC sessions we’ve undertaken some odd and occasionally rather complicated arrangements. Quite possibly the most complex is when we interconnect the WebRTC-based Jitsi Video Bridge with YouTube Live and the ZipDX conference… #podcasting

Transmitting voice over Internet has been around for several years, so the principles behind it are not new. In the last 15 years or so there has also been a huge standardization effort to ensure VoIP providers could integrate to each other and interoperate with other telephony systems like PSTN (and GSM). In the meantime, the Open Source approach has spread all over the technology spectrum and now almost all the components involved in a VoIP sys...

Scene of my first wine tasting experience using a coravin. Able to pour from any bottle without opening it. Very nice.

+Vlad Markov Such things are limited in their effectiveness. When you open the wine it comes into contact with air and begins to change. Even with careful handling, vacuum stoppers, inert gas covers like Private Preserve, the bottle will be spoiled in just a few days.

With Coravin the wine is never opened. Never meets air. Stays unchanged for as long as you like. You can pour yourself one glass of a costly wine, then wait a year to pour the next. No issues.

Yes, it's expensive both to buy & use. It only makes sense if you're handling higher-end wines. My brother-in-law was working for a distributor and had limited access to samples. Using coravin he could keep a sample of a fine wine for a month or more, confident that it'd be perfect each time he poured it for a restaurant owner.

I love when things “just work.” This happens so rarely as to be noteworthy. What follows is a nice example with respect to my Polycom VVX-600 and a USB-attached headset. This afternoon a plaintive beep in my ear told me that the battery on my Sennheiser…

Yes, this was a beautiful, limited production wine. It shipped to the wineries wine club members, with only a few bottles left for anyone else. I was lucky enough to talk them out of another six from the winemakers private cellar.

The menu is good. I choose the Chef's menu, which is a 3 course fixed price offer for $28. There were three appetizers, three entrees and three deserts offered. It was a Wednesday evening and the place was very busy, hardly an open table. The first course arrived quickly, but the second course was quite delayed. The wait staff was attentive and courteous, but very busy. My one wish was for a better choice of wines by the glass, especially Italian wines. I would have appreciated a Ripasso or Barbera where they only offered a Sangiovese.
