The first Sunday of May. Not exactly F1's happiest Sunday...

#Senna   #Formula1   #RIPinpeace

It was Sunday, 21 years ago this week, that #Formula1  lost its truest hero, the legendary Ayrton Senna da Silva. Last year I wrote a piece pondering why his impact is so strong compared to the other great men in F1's history, even to me despite me having no personal memories of him (I was 2 years old when he died).

#AyrtonSenna #Senna   #Motorsport   #F1
Before you read on, I have also written a tribute to Roland Ratzenberger, which I feel you should read as well. If you were to type "Ayrton Senna" into Google, you would probably find thousands upon thousands of tear-sodden t...

GREAT NEWS!!

There's going to be a hot version of the Dacia Sandero! In Brazil and Russia! With a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated engine! And 6 manual gears! And a #Renault badge!

Anyway...

GREAT NEWS!! There's going to be a hot hatch version of the Dacia Sandero (badged as a Renault) with a 2.0-litre engine available in countries where there are currently no Renaultsport models, such as South America and Ru...

I'd say the red Arden car is to blame for trying to squeeze out Marciello and not paying attention to Pic's car in front.

The first example of the ultimate version of what many consider the ultimate Japanese car, the Nissan Skyline GT-R NISMO Z-Tune, has popped up for sale in Australia. Learn about the car and then go buy a lottery ticket!!

The new baby McLaren is here! Meet the 570S, a very British rival to the Audi R8, Porsche 911 Turbo & GT3, and Lamborghini Huracan.

Also, follow @SmallBlogV8 on Twitter! I might get back to using it again if you do.

2015 McLaren 570S Teasers for new cars are almost always awful. If it's not a string of barely-revealing videos with some pretentious "theme" running through, then it's an annoying hashtag with photos of a square foot of body...

Alfa Romeo could supply non-hybrid V6 engines to the imminently reborn Formula 2 series.

Despite no representation in motor racing for some time, Alfa Romeo won the first two F1 championships ever, in 1950 and '51, thanks to Giuseppe Farina and a certain Jaun Manuel Fangio. More recently they also dominated DTM in 1993 with the all-wheel-drive 155 V6 Ti.
Legendary Italian marque Alfa Romeo has been tipped as a potential supplier for the FIA's planned new F2 category, according to sources in Italy.

Right, +Riccardo Littera, win on Sunday, sell on Monday.....Europe is different to the USA, but still in Europe there is a little bit of truth in those words. In fact it 's more complex of course. BMW inhere in motorsports since most of the owners of BMW cars fancy sportive flair, because this stands for youth, flexibility, vitality and success. To keep up this flair BMW needs to compete and reasonably win.
As far as I experienced Alfa Romeo traditionally has a sportife flair too......but this is vanishing since a while.
Not good !

Perhaps it is time to leave racing to racers. And the bile for the fizzy drinks.

My blog has its own page now! Because why not! Also, I speculated about #TopGear  like all the cool kids are doing.

Normally at this point on a Sunday evening, you'd be half way through an episode of #TopGear  . Maybe you are now if there's one on Dave. But despite its current troubles, the BBC's pokey motoring show will come back, possibly next year... with new presenters and a new series producer.

What will the new presenters need to be? Who should they be? Discuss!

I like it a lot, lots of good points and ideas. I especially like the idea of more features on people. There are so many great stories that centre around people in the car world. Designers, engineers, drivers, CEOs, owners etc.

I also like the comment about it not being a 'bigger budget Fifth Gear'. That's what's got me concerned about the rumours of Tiff Needell returning. He's a great chap, very likeable, talented and passionate about cars, but I've never seen him do anything as genuinely ridiculous and silly as the Top Gear presenters, which is part of the reason they're so loved.

I'd also add that I don't think a professional driver will work. One of the good things about Clarkson, Hammond and May was that their experience of cars is relatable. None of them are brilliant driving talents, just like the vast majority of the public. Joe Blogs isn't going to be able to enjoy a car the same way as Vicky Butler-Henderson or Tiff will, but they can probably equal at least Mr May for driving talent.

Oh, and that above all what the show needs is chemistry. The presenters always managed to come across as a bunch of mates who were just mucking about having fun. In whatever they do together, it didn't seem like they were 'at work'. It seemed like they were dossing about with a camera crew filming them.

“We’re always looking at ways to apply Formula 1 telemetry to random things,” explained Kim Ono, head of McLaren Applied and Fitted Operational Outfits Ltd. “So the idea of creating a sarong that utilises telemetric heat sensors to regulate body temperature seemed like a sensible idea.”

Yes, yes, I got it now. I'm not really good at inferring information from pictures, especially when there are numbers keeping my attention busy.
One really has to wonder what prevented them to make a size 0 car with the Mercedes PU, though. The works team didn't have any problem doing that.

Been here twice for the Children's Trust supercar event. It's a bit windy, like all airfields, but other than that it's awesome to be somewhere I see on TV so much! Got taken round in various supercars including the only Lexus LFA in Britain, which was unforgettable.
