I often hear from clients that they want their website redesigned because it's not "pretty" enough or because it doesn't have some fancy functionality they saw on a competitor's website. While I understand where they are coming from, I also try to explain that a website is first and foremost a BUSINESS TOOL and its success should therefore be measured purely by how well it meets that client's BUSINESS OBJECTIVES. Sometimes they listen but often they don't. :)

Seems like it's safe to completely ignore Pagespeed insights scores as they measure something Google doesn't use for anything whatsoever and are definitely NOT a ranking factor. This is what should be measured instead.
